Role Purpose 

This newly created role will drive building, growing, and managing our on-air creative talent pool to support a wide range of new short and long form series content on the Craftsy website, Craftsy YouTube channels and NBCU television show integrations. Ideal candidate needs to have amazing research skills, proficiency with social media, fantastic contract negotiating skills, and off-the-chart interview and Skype chat skills. Must be able to source talent across a variety of categories in the how-to/DIY/maker space including cooking, art, fashion design/sewing, lifestyle, home decor and kids programs. You will work closely with our Programming Directors in the development process for new content. 

Responsibilities 

Find, secure and contract a diverse group of on-air talent to maximize engagement and retention across Craftsy web properties. 

This role reports into the VP Programming and Production with a dotted line to the Programming Directors in specific category verticals. 

● Develop on-air talent management strategies, and look for opportunities to develop, leverage and expand our talent pool 
● Research and present talent leads to Programming Directors for individual series/show concepts 
● Create strong relationships with talent/agents to support our content development initiatives 
● Solicit audition video and create Skype edits for talent reviews 
● Develop and negotiate contracts with talent/agents 
● Manage casting calls for adults and kids in unscripted reality and competition shows 
● Act as a liaison and support for Craftsy talent in NBCU show integrations 
● Collaborate on strategies and seize opportunities to create crave- and binge-worthy content for our users ranging from deep instructional content to edutainment

Basic Qualifications 

● Bachelor’s Degree 
● Minimum 2 years of experience sourcing on-air talent across a variety of content areas, both scripted and unscripted 
● Strong writing and research skills 
● Creative thinking and an endlessly curious mind 
● A knowledge of or passion for the DIY/maker space 
● Strong and supportive management skills 
● Success working in highly collaborative environments 
● Impeccable communication and negotiation skills
