Summary
The Senior Project Manager supports a complex mix of operations areas including project management, resource coordination, technology integration, production planning, product supportability, and supply chain management under the direction of the Manager in Supply Chain Management (SCM). Manages the operational project management aspects of large scale key projects from initiation through project closure. Responds to sales opportunity requests with supportability and cost estimates, providing examples of how sales opportunities can be supported through detailed statements of work. Supports the Account Service Managers and Sales teams with customer communication and issue resolution. Evaluates existing and emerging DigitalGlobe product specifications for operational supportability. Part of that review includes an assessment of required systems, software, staff and general capability to support production of DigitalGlobe products. Works with system engineering teams to devise new methods of supporting geospatial production in the DigitalGlobe production systems and participates in continual process improvement teams to improve existing DigitalGlobe production systems and processes. Coordinates with research and development (R&D) teams to steer technology development for factory improvements and to operationalize developing geospatial technology. Assists in the development of quarterly geospatial production plans for SCM. Daily use of COTS GIS software and enterprise resource systems to track project progress and execute reports for stakeholders. Coordinates with project team to plan and execute deliverables, which might include establishing a multifaceted collection strategy to satisfy Service Level Agreements for contractual requirements. Considered a Subject Matter Expert for project management, with extensive knowledge in best practices and techniques.
Responsibilities
- Manages the operational project management aspects of large scale key projects from initiation through project closure.
- Responds to Sales Opportunity requests with supportability and cost estimates, providing examples of how sales opportunities can be supported through detailed statements of work.
- Supports Account Service Managers and Sales teams with customer communication and issue resolution.
- Routinely provides status reports to stakeholders, and assists other Project Managers with reporting requirements.
- Defines roles and responsibilities for project work, and coordinates with management to assign project resources for execution of project deliverables.
- Monitors and controls projects to ensure they stay within scope, time, cost, and quality requirements.
- Performs reviews of new contracts, assessing risk and operational supportability.
- Coordinates with research and development (R&D) team to steer technology development for factory improvements and to operationalize developing geospatial technology.
- Evaluates existing and emerging Digital Globe product specifications for operational supportability.
- Works with system engineering teams to devise new methods of supporting geospatial production in the DigitalGlobe production systems.
- Assists in the development of quarterly geospatial production plans for SCM.
- Completes project management plans for larger scale projects, including summary information, product specifications and deliverables, risk registers, acceptance registers, change registers, and communications management plans.
- Main contributor to the Project Management Community of Practice meetings, supporting continuous improvement initiatives and lessons learned symposiums.
- Leader for the development and maintenance of required project management procedures and templates.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- 3 to 5 years experience in Geography, Remote Sensing, GIS or other related fields
- 7 to 10 years experience in Project Management
- A Bachelor’s Degree in related field or the equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Must be a U.S. citizen and possess or have the ability to acquire a U.S. Secret clearance.
- The candidate will communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to exercise attention to detail and follow oral and written instructions.
- Knowledge of GIS and Image Processing software including ArcGIS, PCI, and other image processing tools.
- Understanding of GIS, remote sensing, and commercial imagery processing concepts, including projections and datums, orthorectification, block adjustments, etc.
- Knowledge and experience using the Microsoft Office suite, including Project and Visio.
- Extensive understanding of project management best practices; PMP certification is desired.
