Job Description

OrthoFi is building a world-class team that is committed to “wow-ing” customers at every opportunity. We are looking for an Insurance Coordination Lead who is excited to join a fast-paced startup. Candidate must be self-motivated, a self-starter, and love a challenge.  The Coordination Lead will support Insurance Coordinators as they perform benefit verification and/or claims processing services to multiple orthodontic offices located across the United Status.   Responsibilities included but are not limited to the following:

Primary responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with cross functional team on continuous improvement projects related to processes and/or product improvements

  • Support patient/practice advocate groups when questions arise

  • Follow-up on emails/notes from the practice

  • Attend management meetings and provide progress updates for the team

  • Responsible for team updates to ADP Time Tracker and PTO scheduling in GMail calendars

Secondary responsibilities:

  • Verify insurance benefits using electronic, web, phone, and fax back methods

  • Coordinate insurance benefits when multiple plans exist

  • Manage communications with patients and practice staff

  • Discuss financial arrangements

  • Communicate with various insurance carriers

  • Verify dental billing codes and document narratives

  • Complete primary, secondary and tertiary (DO NOT FILE) verifications

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience

  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and solve poorly defined problems

  • Insurance specific experience

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills

  • Excellent communication skills - written, verbal and active listening

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and/or Google Documents

  • Have the ability to learn and utilize business related software systems

  • Must exhibit empathy and compassion for patients.

  • Ability to adapt to change quickly, and show a sense of urgency

  • Strong judgment and decision making abilities

  • Natural curiosity with a strong aptitude to learn quickly

  • Very strong technical aptitude

  • Experience with processing medical insurance claims and/or eligibility checks  (orthodontic or dental claims management preferred) is a plus

  • Prior experience managing claims while working as a Front Desk Receptionist or Treatment Coordinator is a plus

  • Desire to coach team members to service excellence

  • Work with manager and other leads to develop continuation training for the Eligibility Team and the OPs team as needed
