Role Purpose 

Design, develop, and lead a global sourcing capability to cost-effectively procure materials for our growing assortment of physical products and kits. 

Responsibilities 

• Develop and implement strategies to identify and reduce total cost, improve processes, identify opportunities and leverage buying decisions while maintaining or raising quality. 
• Create and manage process for initial and ongoing due diligence on potential and current vendors to ensure sound business decisions, risk monitoring and mitigation. 
• Partner closely with Product Development to identify optimal sources for the right quality and amount of materials and components needed for us to deliver our assortment on time and in a cost-effective manner. 
• Partner with Buying and Planning teams to develop and execute timelines to track and manage vendor communications, sampling & approvals, and on-time product delivery 
• Partner with Supply Chain team to ensure regular communication and on-time delivery of shipments from domestic and international vendor partners 
• Continuously evaluate and assess business needs, and partner with executive leadership to establish the procurement vision and strategy. 
• Manage processes for product safety testing and compliance 
• Maintain current awareness of industry trends and best practices.

Basic Qualifications 

〈 5+ years experience in global sourcing, preferably in textiles, arts & crafts, and/or toy related industries 
〈 Experience quickly finding and successfully procuring a wide array of high quality, safety-compliant products 
〈 Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple simultaneous projects with attention to detail and strong time management and organization skills to achieve desired outcomes 
〈 Creative problem-solver with a bias for finding ways to quickly, effectively, and ethically get the job done 
〈 A clear understanding of financial measurements (sales, gross margin, measures of inventory productivity) and how to impact them 
〈 Excellent communication skills, including externally with vendor partners as well as internally at multiple levels within in the organization 
〈 A flexible attitude when confronted with unexpected obstacles in a fast-paced environment 
〈 A demonstrated passion for crafting and creative activities a major plus!
