Artifact Uprising - Design Director

 

Purpose

 

Concept thoughtfully branded experiences for Artifact Uprising and lead a team of designers to execute these through first-class visual communications online and offline.

We are looking for a Design Director who thrives in a fast-paced and entrepreneurial environment to join the team in building a first-in-class visual brand. With refined taste and an eye for the emerging web trends, you will design within an established identity while pushing the brand forward. You will lead a team of designers to actualize thoughtfully designed campaigns and exceptional brand experiences. You will think conceptually and create relentlessly with a passion, detail, and dedication to the craft.                                                                                                                                                               

The day-to-day

 

  • Serve as lead designer and ideator for all evergreen marketing channels including email, digital ads, social and the Artifact Uprising website and iOS app
  • Work closely with Art Director and marketers to bring a vision to life for larger 360 tentpole campaigns and new product launches
  • Oversee team of designers ensuring output adheres to brand standards, follows best practices and garners desired reaction from target consumer
  • Understand the impact of brand, product and user experience on the rest of the business and build design strategies geared toward company-wide goals
  • Provide design and career mentorship to team of designers; help grow and scale team
  • Help manage workflow, implement new processes and clear roadblocks to assist team in meeting deadlines and achieving goals

 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience
  • At least 7 years of design experience ideally with a premium consumer brand
  • Have managed, led and grown a team of multiple designers with a track record of success
  • Strong background in project management and ability to deliver large volume of work that meets tight deadlines and high quality standards
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally in a high growth environment
  • Ability to work efficiently and accurately within all required aspects of the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
  • An online portfolio demonstrating creative branding and campaign execution across different media including emails, digital advertisements, site assets and social
  • Experience managing a creative budget and overseeing freelancers

 

Nice to Have

  • Appreciation for photography and the life experiences that shape it
  • E-commerce and/or startup experience
  • Experience working with email clients such as MailChimp or Klaviyo
  • Foundation in copywriting and/or copy editing
