FusionAuth is scaling up its organization across all departments and is hiring in all departments, including Marketing. We are recruiting a Controller to oversee the accounting function and support the growth of the company. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, fast worker and excited about growing a company from the ground up. The role will report to the CFO. We are open to full time US based candidates to work as a dedicated full-time employee. Most of our staff reside in the Mountain or Pacific time zone but we are open to any US location. Description
The Controller will administer the daily accounting operations, financial reporting and related transactional processing requirements of the Company. The primary responsibilities of the Controller are to manage the accounting function, preparation of GAAP financial reports, complete the annual audit and own the accounting operations.
In addition to ownership GAAP reporting, the Controller will be responsible for working in conjunction with the financial organization to generate, analyze, and disseminate monthly budget versus actual analyses to stakeholders within the organization. The successful candidate must be dynamic and quick to react to a rapidly growing and changing business. Additionally, this role will be tasked with implementing and improving processes and systems commensurate with the companies growth stages.
This newly created role will eventually hire its team as the company scales. This role requires excellent communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally with all facets of the organization and external parties
What You Have Done:
We are looking for someone that has done several aspects of this before for this critical newly created role.

- Daily accounting operations such as routine GL close, payroll, billing, etc. for emerging tech recurring revenue businesses
- Implemented processes and latest back office accounting operation systems
- Completed full scope GAAP audits and financial statements, either serving as the auditor or being audited

What You Will Do:
- Own the accounting and backend operations such as of billings, collections, purchasing, and payables
- Oversee and own the month-end close process
- Over time, provide leadership required to grow and strengthen the Accounting team, with a commitment to recruiting, training and mentoring.
- Be key contact to bankers, auditors, tax accountants, and other outside resources.
- Monitor revenue and expenses; coordinate the collection, consolidation, and evaluation of financial data, and preparing special reports as needed.
- Facilitate the preparation of financial statements and deliverables for the consolidated US GAAP audit, and statutory audits as deemed necessary.
- Implement controls, policies, and streamlined processes appropriate for an early-stage company and scalable to support a public company control environment.
- Plan, coordinate and own the annual financial statement audits and any statutory requirements.
- Streamline processes by leveraging software to automate where possible, and introducing additional software to provide a better user experience.
What You'll Need:
- Demonstrable experience with GAAP, financial reporting, audits and accounting operations
- 8+ years related experience; combination of public auditing and private company experience strongly preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field preferred
- CPA and / or audit experience highly preferred
- Knowledge of subscription economics and metrics a plus, but not required; we can train you on this
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong presentation skills
- Exceptional project management, planning, and budgeting skills
- A strong sense of urgency and ownership over projects and deliverables
- Proficiency in Quickbooks, CRM, banking platforms, subscription billing systems, equity solutions such as Carta, Ramp / bill.com etc.
- Comfortable in Apple Mac environment
- High-level of integrity and a humble ethical person

- $125k-$175k expected base salary range*

The expected base salary range that we are targeting for this position can be adjusted up or down based on individual qualifications. Individual salary is determined by qualifications, role, level and location.
