Colorado is ranked among the Top 10 spots in the nation for digital health companies. A challenge by PrIME Health Collaborative will solidify Colorado's strong digital health ecosystem by giving young companies access to healthcare providers. By making these connections, the Colorado Digital Health Challenge will solve a major pain point for Colorado digital health companies.

“Digital health has become a critical new segment in the tech and Colorado has become the epicenter,” digital health-focused serial entrepreneur Jeffrey Nathanson said. “The No. 1 problem is still a lack of access to healthcare delivery and service providers; we are connecting them for the first time in Colorado.”

For example, through the Colorado Health Challenge, fertility startup Kindara could get the access to OBGYN practitioners and their patients, which could provide them with invaluable production validation and data. Or MDValuate, a physician performance intelligence solution, could reach more users and therefore more feedback.

Here’s how the challenge will go: submissions are accepted (via Valid Eval) through July 11 and then semi-finalists will go through a three-month course that includes feedback and mentorship from experienced entrepreneurs and angel investors.

Six to eight of those companies will be selected to present to judges in September. This chance to present their pilots and prototypes could turn into lasting connections between the young companies and crucial stakeholders.

"Emerging digital health startups crave two things above all else: capital and relationships with health care providers and payers for the purpose of creating new solutions to big, expensive problems," said Jake Rishavy, co-founder of the PrIME Health Collaborative, said in a statement. "The Digital Health Challenge provides startups with both of these vital elements."
