Boulder soccer website raises $1M in Seed Round

The Boulder-based soccer website The18.com raised $1 million in seed funding. The company said they will use the money to develop new features on the site, as well as to increase marketing efforts and to do some hiring. Alteryx pulls in $85M, valued at almost $1B

The SaaS company Alteryx announced they had raised a whopping $85 million in new funding to, amongst other things, help the company grow in their new Broomfield offices. The round was led by Iconiq Capital and Insight Venture Partners, with the participation of Meritech Capital Partners. According to the New York Times, the company is close to being valued at $1 billion. [Built in Colorado]

 

Twitter to give Techstars companies access to data

Techstars and Twitter are teaming up to to give Twitter data to Techstars’ companies. With the partnership, companies going through Techstars accelerator program will receive access to Twitter’s API for social data. DARPA gave $2.1 to CSU researchers working on gesture tech

Colorado State University researchers were awarded a $2.1 million grant from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). The grant was to help the researchers develop technology that would allow computers to understand human gestures and other non-verbal communication.
