Alchemy, a newly designed creative co-workspace in the historic Baker and Wash Park neighborhood, is nearing completion and will welcome entrepreneurs in October.
Designed by Chris Fulenwider, Alchemy co-founder and president at CF Studio Architecture + Development, Alchemy features dedicated desks, co-working memberships as well as private office suites for start-ups and small businesses.
“Chris and I wanted to create more than just another co-working space in Denver. Alchemy is a shared office alternative where collaboration, mutual respect, life-work balance and collective well-being are embraced in an atmosphere of positive entrepreneurial spirit,” said co-founder Travis McAfoos.
Featuring inspiring architecture in an adaptive reuse of an existing bow truss warehouse building, Alchemy’s two-story design was derived from a central axis, through the middle of the cathedral-like space, where interaction among members is promoted with lounge seating areas, high top tables, a bar, a kitchen and the main conference room. A nest lounge area rests in between trusses and on top of the conference room, which has a raised ceiling.
“The higher one ascends in the building, the more private the space becomes. The offices all face in, feeding off the creative and interactive energy. Alchemy’s layout was also done to promote chance encounters, which are intended lead to collaborative ideas, partnerships and social interaction,” said Fulenwider.
And seeking to inspire and support the work-life balance that brings entrepreneurs to Denver, the first floor of the building will feature a new yoga studio. In addition to easy access to yoga, dogs are welcome at Alchemy, there will be free, local microbrews served daily and monthly member events for networking.
“The Baker and Wash Park neighborhoods currently do not have office options like Alchemy. Not only are we filling a void for people who don’t want to work at home or deal with a commute Downtown, we know the location’s proximity to so many great lifestyle options are a huge draw,” stated Fulenwider. “The renovation process of this former warehouse started in January and from week one we started receiving leasing and membership inquiries.”
