Charter is proud to have a network that provides service to millions of customers across the US. The Network Engineering team is responsible for the implementation of approved network architecture and designs. Under limited supervision, this Engineer position designs, deploys and maintains critical application platforms that drive network data collection, network capacity management and workflow automation. This position requires a strong knowledge of Linux operating systems and services, relational and NoSQL DBMS , and develop process and system automation.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES• Creates and leads system automation• Designs, implements, monitors, enhances and troubleshoots systems in assigned areas• Analyzes and revises existing system logic difficulties and documentation as necessary• Tests and reviews system and database designs• Provides engineering technical support within the team, provides engineering support to other teams ensuring technical requirements and documentation are met.• Mentors and guides the work of other technical staff• Works with development staff to ensure application/system compatibility and availability• Adheres to industry specific local, state, and federal regulations, as applicable• Diagnose complex issues, evaluate, recommend and execute the best resolution• Communicate frequently and effectively with other engineers on the team.• Become a trusted partner with our partners through the delivery of excellent customer service and knowledge that will allow our business to grow• Provide users of the system both demonstration and documentation related to the systems built• Performs other duties as requested by supervisor.
BASIC / MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field, and / or equivalent work experience• Minimum of four (4) years system administration experience• Minimum four (4) years of experience with Linux operating systems, preferably Red Hat / CentOS / Ubuntu / Debian.• Minimum three (3) years of scripting / system automation primarily using PERL / Shell /Python• Minimum three (3) years of experience with automation tools such as Ansible
REQUIRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS• Advanced Knowledge of Linux operating systems RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, Debian• Knowledge of Kubernetes• Knowledge of Ansible• Knowledge of Docker (image creation and life cycle)• Knowledge of clustered storage (Gluster, Ceph)• Knowledge of RDBMS (MariaDB, MySQL)• Knowledge of NoSQL (Cassandra, Mongo)• Knowledge of session and application load balancing (HA Proxy, Nginx, Apache)• Able to work in a team environment• Ability to perform duties in a very fast pace environment and ability to learn new technology quickly• Able to us the following office equipment telephone, copier, fax, and calculator• Ability to use personal computer and software applications• Knowledge of Microsoft Office• Experience in diagraming software, such as Visio• Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
PREFERRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS• Knowledge of GIT/GITLab for software version control• Knowledge of TCP/IP and the OSI Model• Knowledge of programming languages (PERL, Python)• Knowledge of SQL query writing (MySQL, MariaDB)• Knowledge of CQL (Cassandra)• Knowledge if network design, network architecture, protocols and topology• Knowledge of basic devices and network appliances
WORKING CONDITIONS• Office Environment• May work in Network Lab environment• 24X7 Network Operations environment. Depending on business group, on-call work may be an essential function of the job.• Occasional travel as required

The pay for this position has a salary range of
$88,200.00 to $156,600.00. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience and location. Also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of compensation such as bonuses.
