Purpose

The Staff Accountant position requires direct interaction with the Ops teams to facilitate accurate and timely payments/receipts to/from clients and their employees. This role will be directly responsible for maintaining the accuracy of financial records and transactions including journal and general ledger entries, account reconciliations, and full-cycle accounts payable and accounts receivable. The ideal candidate should have excellent analytical skills and enjoy working in a challenging and fast-paced environment.

 

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage third-party to post and reconcile AP invoices, responsible for accounts payable month end deadlines
  • Prepare bank reconciliations and ensure that any variances are investigated, resolved, and documented
  • Perform various GL month-end close activities, including preparation of journal entries, and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Settle client payments daily and research any unknown transactions to correctly apply to client accounts, reprocess NSF and ACH kickbacks, prepare weekly aging report
  • Assist with standardizing processes and ensure compliance
  • Participate in a variety of ad-hoc reports, special projects, process improvements, and analyses as necessary
  • Assist with gathering and providing support for annual audit
  • Cross-train and backup team members for daily/monthly tasks. Active participation in team meetings, training, and activities.

 

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Experience
    • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
    • 3+ years of related work experience
    • Bonus - PEO experience
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, strong Excel skills
    • Proficient with Sage Intact and Salesforce preferred
  • Organization/Planning - Able to multitask to deal with urgent client matters while also completing routine monthly activities
  • Integrity - Demonstrate fiscal responsibility for company assets
  • Independence - Able to effectively work independently
  • Team player - Prioritize team needs and goals/willing to dive in as necessary

Salary: $58,000-$68,000 per year
