Position Summary: 

The Senior Accountant position is responsible for analyzing and implementing GAAP requirements, preparation and analysis of financial statements, prepare management reports and analysis, providing recommendations for control risk mitigation. Understands complete business process in the ERP system and may lead multiple accounting business processes. Significant involvement in company audits.  Able to work independently on multiple processes with limited oversight and ability to meet deadlines. 

 

Key Results Areas: 

1. Independently understand, analyze, and communicate GAAP requirements and apply appropriately to business processes. Requires ability to comply with specific customer contractual requirements. 

2. This position will have an emphasis on payroll processing, compliance with state, federal and local payroll regulation, and best practices.

3. Analyze and interpret payroll data and provide recommendations.

4. Verify employee timesheets and cross-check payment details such as work hours, paid time off and other records. This may involve helping with timesheet data input.

5. This person will serve as one of the Paylocity administrators.

6. Financial Statements and Reporting

  • a. Financial statement analysis.
  • b. External Reporting. 
  • c. Prepare complex account reconciliations.
  • d. May lead month-end established close process with attention to deadlines, accuracy and completeness.
  • e. Responsible for management reporting and close package.
  • f. Responsible for supporting budgeting and forecasting as needed with variance analysis.
  • g. Manage accounting system controls eg. GL COA, GL controls, financial report design, posting process. 

7. Business Controls

  • a. Cognizant of and independently recommends changes and improvements for control over Finance functions.
  • b. Knowledgeable of appropriate cross-functional business level controls and able to recommend remediation or risk mitigation (segregation of duties).
  • c. Able to problem solve existing process, identify and implement solutions including new and process changes that can affect cross functional areas.
  • d. Able to assess and implement Sarbanes Oxley control requirements.

8. ERP system / manufacturing systems

  • a. Understanding of full cycle business process and reporting available in ERP system.
  • b. May be responsible for integration of multiple accounting applications.

9. External Audit

  • a. Significant involvement in audits including communication, research and analysis. 

10. Government Accounting

  • a. Research FAR, DAR requirements and make recommendation and apply to business processes.
  • b. May prepare actual and provisional cost submission with analysis.

Requirements

Qualifications:

To qualify for this position, an individual must possess the knowledge, training, experience and abilities required. 

Education and Training

· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related academic field. 

Experience:

· Five years’ experience in accounting or closely related field.

· Demonstrated ability to manage complex financial models.

· Strong internal communication skills to Sr. Mgt and among management of cross functional areas.

· Manufacturing accounting or audit experience.

Other:

· Must be willing to work overtime as required.

· Travel on rare occasions.

 

Desired Job Qualification:

· Experience with Epicor software systems.

 

Skills:

To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies: 

· To perform this job successfully, an individual must have proficiency in MS office, enterprise resource planning, database, and specialized application software.

Compensation and Benefits:

The salary range for this role is $80,000. - $100,000.  This range represent the anticipated minimum and maximum base + bonus for this position based upon a good faith and reasonable estimate. The final compensation for this position will be set based on the applicant’s qualifications (education, training and/or experience related to this role), and therefore, may fall outside the range shown, depending on the circumstances.
