Vice President, Commercial Auto/Product

Today, all Pie-oneers are working remotely and will continue to do so until it is safe to return to the office. As a remote team member, you will be expected to be available for meetings with team members in other time zones and have access to reliable, high-speed internet.
This role will ideally work in our Denver or DC office once our offices re-open. We are conducting a nationwide search for this hire and would provide relocation assistance to Denver or DC. Continued remote work with 25% travel to Denver and/or DC would be considered.
How You’ll Do It
Responsible for building and developing a Commercial Auto insurance strategy and offering, including managing a team of direct and indirect reports, growing to hundreds of millions in premium. Develop strategic plans for the innovative use of telematics, including a multi-faceted approach based on data availability, customer needs, and marketplace demand.
The right candidate will have familiarity with building and executing a framework for building a small business focused commercial auto offering in all 50 states, including utilizing new technology capabilities to underwrite and price these accounts. The framework will also include where and how to target small businesses and how to leverage technology to reach potential commercial auto clients.
Responsible for R&D for a segment of the Commercial Auto Product Offering including Product, Pricing and Underwriting
Build a cross functional team of software developers, product managers, project managers, underwriters, and data scientists to launch the commercial auto product.
Additionally, the right candidate will have a proven track record of managing and growing large commercial auto insurance programs from an underwriting and claims perspective. An advanced understanding and the knowledge on integrating data driven solutions with commercial auto insurance. Have acquired detailed knowledge of US commercial auto insurance market complexities and experience working in InsurTech industries and a network to call upon, build and manage insurance relationships with carrier partners and vendors.
The Right Stuff
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a business-related discipline (mathematics, statistics, actuarial science, insurance or other related discipline encouraged)
- 7+ years of Commercial Auto experience in a Analytics, Product Management or Underwriting role
- Experience managing large initiatives at the national or multi-state level is highly preferred
- Skills to define, build and execute a well defined strategy while negotiating challenges and adapting to unforeseen circumstances
- Skillful with recruiting and managing high performing teams in a high growth, fast-paced environment
- Knowledge and ability to identify expansion opportunities and the ability to articulate criteria for investment into those opportunities to leadership and investors
- Advanced understanding and knowledge of underwriting, claims and actuarial concepts in commercial auto insurance
- Strong communication skills - ability to present ideas and information in a clear, concise, organized and diplomatic manner; gather information from multiple parties to ensure all perspectives are heard and considered; listen to others to respond effectively to ideas, thoughts, and questions; ability to work with others in effectively negotiating through conflict express one's self effectively in adversarial and confrontational settings to obtain desired results

Compensation Range for position: $200,000- $280,000
