TeamSnap is an award-winning mobile and web service for managing recreational and competitive sports teams and groups. With almost 20 million enthusiastic customers in 195 countries, TeamSnap has quickly become one of the fastest-growing team and group management solutions on the planet.

We are looking for fun people with big ideas and tiny egos who do great work. We hire awesome people, give them the tools to achieve great things and provide strong two-way communication so everyone can grow in their roles and find passion in their work. We strive for long-term, committed employees who feel strong ownership of the company, culture and product.

What you’ll be doing

Do you love working on web and mobile software products? Do you like interviewing customers and prospects to understand their problems? Can you do rock-solid market research, segment like a samurai, and build data-backed business cases? Would you like to have the ultimate success or failure of our entire company resting on your shoulders? (Just kidding, but truth lies in all jest.)

TeamSnap (www.teamsnap.com) is seeking a smart, analytical and thorough Senior Product Manager to drive the growth of our independent team business unit. You should be able to learn and fully understand the market and the opportunity, translating that into actionable recommendations.

You will live and breathe the product, knowing what our competitors and partners are doing, what our current customers are asking for and what hidden problems aren’t yet being addressed. Most importantly, you should be able to ask and answer the core questions that tell us what we must do in order to drive growth and win the market.

We’re looking for someone who can gather hard data to help us answer core business questions and concentrate on ROI, both quantifiable and otherwise. You must be able to do market segmentation, win/loss analysis, breakeven analysis and research. You must understand best practice customer acquisition methodologies.

You’ll help us decide what and where to build, buy or partner -- and more importantly, what not to do. We’re looking for someone who can advocate passionately, based on hard data, but work in a completely collaborative environment driving toward consensus.

We’re a growing company where “not my job” isn’t in our vocabulary. You should be willing to roll up your sleeves and do whatever is needed to help us grow. Or in winter, roll up your mittens. You should be flexible, passionate and driven. We value fit and company culture above all. We have a strong bias for action.

  • Become an expert on the team sports market and the opportunity. You will define and understand the key market segments, zeroing in on the unique requirements of each.
  • Gain a strong understanding of the competitive environment -- know which of our competitors are winning and what we need to do to play on the same field. You must help us differentiate between features that move the needle and features that just complicate the product.
  • Communicate regularly with our customers in all segments, understanding their needs, prioritizing their requests against the big picture and building a community that can give regular feedback on feature ideas and prototypes.
  • Post funny pictures of 80s celebrities in our chat rooms.
  • Work across the organization to help prioritize roadmap and development priorities through the entire product lifecycle.
  • Educate the development team on product opportunities and learn about engineering constraints and trade-offs that might impact what we can do.
  • Develop requirements and use cases for new product features including associated problem statements and personas.

Skills and attributes we’d like you to have

  • Strong customer research skills - the ability to understand customers inside and out.
  • Experience working in an agile product development environment (knowledge of JIRA a definite bonus)
  • Strategic mindset - ability to constantly prioritize the myriad opportunities by building solid business cases.
  • Ability to use data and analysis to back your decisions and recommendations (knowledge of Google Analytics and Tableau also a bonus).
  • Smart, thorough, passionate, driven. A love of research and not afraid to ask the hard questions.
  • Flexibility, with the ability to adapt recommendations to changing conditions.
  • Passion for great product experience - constantly seeking to learn best practices in web and mobile products and apply those to our own products.
  • A great sense of humor, endless patience and the ability to work with multiple people and multiple groups.
  • Ability to work with a distributed team and darned good by IM, phone and video conference.
  • "Roll-up-your-sleeves" entrepreneurial, flexible attitude.
  • Big ideas and a tiny ego.
