Product Planner

Position Description:

A Product Planner will be responsible for the planning and execution of a particular product within the Conga suite. They will work with a Product Manager to collect feedback from stakeholders and work directly with the development team to ensure proper steps are being taken to improve their product.

A Product Planner’s role in the greater product management organization will have an emphasis on the day-to-day details with regard to developing and managing a SaaS product.

Responsibilities:

  • Product Expertise

    • Be a subject matter expert on the product(s), including technical functionality, target market needs, user personas, and buyer evaluation criteria.

    • Provide product demos and present to stakeholders based on various product use cases and for different audiences, both internal and external. 

    • Monitor and respond to questions on internal and external communications channels.

    • Communicate with TCS/PS and other internal teams regarding product-related customer cases; work with product management and development to take any necessary actions.

    • Work with other Conga product teams to ensure cross-product coordination of planning. 

    • Provide internal product training for stakeholders including product marketing. 

    • Ensure product(s) are promoted and maintained within sales demo environment(s).

  • Product Ownership

    • Act as the Product Owner in our Agile processes - prioritize, define, clarify. 

    • Prioritize the work to include in each sprint. 

    • Guide the scrum team to deliver best-in-class, healthy software at an impressive pace.

    • Effectively manage the backlog by grooming and prioritizing based on data and feedback. 

    • Work with product management and development to create and maintain a product roadmap, track the schedule against the roadmap, and escalate any risks and issues.

    • Own the product definition and refinement process (describe the problem, and draft user stories and acceptance criteria).

    • Work with development to decompose high-level features into user stories.

    • Work with the user experience team to craft visual and written guidance for use by the development team.

    • Quality assurance (QA) for new features/functionality and for issue/bug reproduction.

  • Product Research

    • Gather and validate product requirements from customers and other stakeholders.

    • Analyze usage data and trends.

    • Utilize in-app tracking software and feature management.

    • Implement key product metrics and track performance against targets.

  • Communications

    • Assist with product launch activities.

    • Provide written summaries, analyses and action plans which drive improvement in conversion, usage, satisfaction and performance.

    • Manage release status for development, and communicate status to other departments and externally.

    • Maintain and update information for periodic operations reports.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business or a related discipline or equivalent work experience

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to convey technical solutions to end-users of all abilities

  • Demonstrated professionalism interacting with a variety of audiences internally and externally 

  • Knowledge of the Salesforce ecosystem

  • Familiarity with Conga preferred

  • Strong listening skills and a healthy sense of curiosity

  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment with significant ambiguity as projects evolve
