Today, all Pie-oneers are working remotely and will continue to do so until it is safe to return to the office. As a remote team member, you will be expected to be available for meetings with team members in other time zones and have access to reliable, high-speed internet.


This role will work in our Denver or DC office once our office re-opens. 


Product Manager will help build our world-class insurance products. We need someone who can demonstrate an understanding of product management fundamentals, synthesizes the different viewpoints from all stakeholders to arrive at a deliverable, and has practical knowledge in writing User Stories that drive value for the business. Natural problem solver who puts the right scalable solution front and center, comfortable with ambiguity, a go getter who gets the job done.

You will work across the entire organization to ensure your features are supporting your end users needs. You must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of Pie-onieers from frontline customer success, sales, and underwriting through the Executive level and external stakeholders.

How You'll Do It

  • Product Management / Development
  • Collecting requirements and gathering stakeholder feedback
  • collaborate with other members of the product team, as well as design to create solutions. 
  • Innovating on existing features and or cultivating new ideas to enhance our overall feature set
  • Elicit and document business and functional requirements.

  • Data Analysis
  • Spend time analyzing data to help determine what should be done next. 
  • Creating Reports and Dashboards

  • UAT / Product Tickets
  • UAT (User Acceptance Testing) tester, validating user stories, Addressing Product Tickets

The Right Stuff

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred
  • 2 years of Product Management experience or related work which can include: financial analysis, underwriting, or general data analysis focused work is preferred
  • Basic to proficient knowledge of data and analysis (Quantitative). 
  • Some working knowledge with SQL, Looker or other analytical tools is preferred.
  • Able to understand and manage complex problems to solution.
  • Proficient understanding of product workflow processes in order to simplify problems and manage solutions.
  • Basic understanding of strategic direction and the ability to make meaningful contributions to the strategy.
  • Proficient knowledge of how to translate business concepts into technical solutions. 
  • Possesses strong understanding of a product, the broader market, and competition.
  • Basic knowledge of agile and skills with confluence, Jira or other like tools.
  • Basic processing skills to understand cause and effect of personal work items.
  • Communication (verbal and written) skills to articulate needs and personal project deliverables effectively. 
  • Proficient excel skills (using pivot tables, sort data and filters) is preferred.
  • Skills with G-Suite (preferred) or MS office technology.

  • Feature Specification - You are able to write a clear specification for major features. You are able to effectively think through and specify complex functionality. You are able to determine the right level of detail for a spec - you do not under-spec or over-spec a feature. You are able to leverage different spec formats, comps, and working prototypes as necessary to describe functionality in sufficient detail to successfully drive product implementation. You proactively get feedback at each phase of the project.
  • Product Delivery - You are effective at negotiating the implementation of your current project, and making the right trade-off decisions in order to launch your project in a high-quality manner. You know when to escalate decisions to your manager. Working with your team, you can make recommendations that deliver maximum value to the end user as quickly as possible.
  • Product Quality Assurance - You not only can identify and triage issues with a specific feature, but also understand how multiple features are interrelated and catch more complex problems. You can make the right decision in triaging issues that impact the quality of a launch. Where necessary, you can organize a broader bug hunt to ensure the quality of the release.

  • Customer Insight - Understand and fulfill customer needs
  • Fluency with Data - You have a strong grasp of the company's internal analytics tools. You are able to use these tools not only to analyze results of projects, but to proactively gather insights from ad hoc queries, and to use those insights to drive product recommendations and set realistic goals for upcoming projects.
  • Voice of the Customer - You understand when it is critical to gather user input to help make a decision, and when it is not relevant to the decision at hand. You can determine which method of user feedback is most effective for the task at hand, and work with the tools and teams at the company to execute on that plan. You are able to distill user feedback in order to make recommendations for future product enhancements.
  • User Experience Design - You can independently assess a product design and make specific recommendations for how to improve it. You can articulate visually how to solve a particular product problem, and help guide the design team's direction. You can observe design decisions made by other company's products as a helpful point of reference and drive consistency across the company's products.

  • Business Outcome Ownership - You can articulate the goals of a series of projects that build towards a broader team goal. You understand how your current project helps to drive toward the goals of both your team and your pillar. Your post-launch analysis not only summarizes results, but also recommends next steps. You strive to achieve 100% of your commitments and proactively communicate when commitments can't be achieved.
  • Product Vision and Roadmapping - Not only can you articulate how your current work connects to your team's goals, you can also make proactive recommendations on how to better achieve those goals through your forward-looking roadmap. You influence the roadmap for your team.
  • Strategic Impact -You understand the overall strategic direction of your pillar and the company. You seek to make a meaningful contribution to that strategy via your product work.

  • Influencing People - Rally People Around the Team’s Work
  • Stakeholder Management - You are fully aware of the broad set of stakeholders you need to align behind not only your current project, but any planned follow-on work. You can integrate their feedback and make recommendations for the best path forward, escalating when necessary.
  • Managing Up - You effectively communicate status, progress, and outcomes to senior management. You proactively highlight any issues blocking your forward progress on a project, and ensure you are setting accurate expectations with your manager on your current set of work. You proactively work with your manager to get feedback on your work. You work with your manager to identify career development opportunities, and discuss your career path at the company.

Compensation Range for position: $119,000 - $139,000
