In the last decade, radical transformations have occurred in the world of IT applications and services, driven by the cloud. Servers are no longer setup on-premise or in co-located facilities - they are spun up in seconds in AWS. Applications are not acquired and implemented over weeks or months on-premise - they are subscribed to as advanced SaaS services. Those are just two examples of thousands. There is no turning back. The cloud has changed everything.
Many young companies have the luxury of starting their IT infrastructure in a truly ‘cloud-forward’ way, building their IT stack from day one on cloud solutions. Nothing installed on-premise, most everything accessed as-a-service. More mature companies want to get to an ‘all-cloud’ model, and are strategizing how to be nimble like their younger counterparts. But they both have a major problem: employee resource access. It’s not just cloud apps. SSO tools have done that for years. It’s got to be about ‘everything’ an employee needs to touch: access to their laptops, their network access, legacy applications, SaaS apps, and file access as well. A directory, of course, is what IT needs, but, that’s not a cloud-based possibility.
This whole concept of a directory has been dominated by one company: Microsoft. Active Directory has been one the most critical resources that has controlled employee’s access for nearly 20 years. What happens when you are an IT team who simply don’t care for Microsoft technologies, or are looking to commingle Microsoft resources alongside others….like Mac or Linux? How can you build a solid and secure network with Active Directory...or without it?
This is what JumpCloud has solved.
JumpCloud’s Directory-as-a Service (www.jumpcloud.com) has disrupted this mainstream way of thinking and has gone global helping companies large and small achieve this reality, providing an independent, cloud-based directory. We have made it possible for IT organizations to finally separate from the one element that has helped them stay grounded from the cloud: Active Directory. We have become the world’s alternative for this critical piece.
