POSITION SUMMARY

The Associate Product Owner is the member of the team responsible for defining and prioritizing the Agile team’s backlog to streamline the execution of program priorities, while maintaining conceptual and technical integrity of the features or components within the team’s domain. They describe what should be built and why, but not how.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prioritize and maintain the Agile team backlog, including definition of features, user stories, acceptance criteria
  • Serve as “voice of the user” and represent/reinforce the end-user’s perspective throughout the product realization cycle
  • Collaborate with a cross-functional team of designers, developers, testers and others to develop and execute against Product Roadmaps and Release Plans
  • Continuously and transparently communicate with internal stakeholders the prioritization of product backlog items and the status of development efforts via Product Demos, Release Plans and other means
  • Define, prioritize, drive realization of specific product vision
  • Act as the subject-matter expert for assigned products
  • Work with Scrum Masters to help direct, motivate, and guide the delivery teams
  • Collaborate with User Experience partners in usability testing and the development of the user design
  • Provide direction and support to development and quality assurance teams
  • Promote and drive Agile development methodology throughout the work and teams
  • Manage, prioritize, and assess the impact of defects, including providing key input on the decisions to fix or defer
  • Review, accept, and prioritize feedback and new requirements from project stakeholders
  • Ensure that Scrum team deliverables meet agreed-upon standards for quality and non-functional requirements, and that the products meet the stated business need
  • Reviews output of development to ensure specified acceptance criteria has been completed
  • Ensure the product functionality is appropriately documented
  • Provide input to Product Managers for necessary changes or product backlog items coming out of Scrum development that need to be considered on a future roadmap
  • Assist support teams with training and communication that allow end-users and internal clients to better understand the products and changes that were made

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 1-2+ years of experience working in a SaaS technology company
  • Demonstrated ability to work with product development to deploy technologies such as, desktop and mobile user interface design, information design, user research, data visualization, analytics and APIs
  • Experience in working with Agile/Scrum work environment as a Business Analyst or similar role: writing user stories, and following the development process through user story acceptance
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Team player, with great work ethics and quick learner
  • Detail oriented and obsessively organized
  • Diplomatic with strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Comfortable driving teams and management to decisions; willing to push-back for information and answers
  • Adept at adjusting to changing circumstances quickly and professionally
  • Able to make quick decisions when clarification or modification is needed

PREFERRED EXPERIENCES & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience working at/with a healthcare technology company
  • Experience with Rally or similar software development tools
  • Experience with Scrum methodology
  • Experience with full software development life cycle
  • You must be authorized to work in the United States – No H1B VISA sponsorship is available for this role
