Job Duties and Responsibilities
DISH Wireless seeks an Interconnect/Peering Engineer with deep expertise in global and local Internet and voice routing. This role demands a strong grasp of peering agreements, 3rd party services, DNS, IP addressing, and BGP to ensure efficient processing of DISH mobile data traffic, which is set to increase with the rollout of our 5G network. Candidates should be adept at adapting connectivity options to evolving traffic patterns and be familiar with network operators and service provider processes.
In this role, you will:
- Developing peering, IP transit, and interconnection requirements for the 5G network.
- Creating business cases for traffic flow adjustments to 3rd parties and assessing their impact.
- Managing data traffic flows and recommending network changes as needed.
- Ensuring reliability, security, and redundancy requirements are met.
- Contributing to innovations and sharing knowledge across teams.
- Defining and managing performance through SLAs and KPIs.
This position plays a crucial role in designing and optimizing data and voice interconnection, potentially involving equipment specification and API integration to deliver top-tier services for DISH customers.
Skills, Experience and Requirements
As a successful Peering Engineer, you will have:
- Bachelor's degree in a quantitative discipline such as Statistics, Math, Finance, or Engineering.
- 3+ years of experience in Internet/Telecommunications networks.
- Working knowledge of DNS and BGP; familiarity with virtualization & software-defined networking is a plus.
- Ability to correlate telemetry, establish benchmarks, and provide insights to transform network operations into a highly proactive model.
- Familiarity with optical networking and interfaces, including writing detailed technical specifications.
- Capacity to manage multiple commitments simultaneously.
- Understanding of traffic engineering, Internet access services, and Ethernet services, including how throughput and performance metrics are obtained, processed, and stored.
- Knowledge of telecom industry partners and services.

Salary Ranges
Compensation: $83,160.00/Year - $136,625.00/Year

The base pay range shown is a guideline. Individual total
compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, and competencies; compensation is based on the role's location and is subject to change based on work location. Candidates need to successfully complete a pre-employment screen, which may include a drug test and DMV check.
