bullbird is an early stage, Boulder based start-up in the travel / consumer goods industry. We engineer travel gear so it performs better and lasts the journey. Our first product was a remake of the humble travel pillow. It was born from a simple insight that we wanted to get some rest in flight, but didn’t want to look ridiculous doing it. 80% smaller than traditional travel rests, it set out to become a crowd fund darling, and sell over 100K units in Brookstone.
Role
The time has now come for us to expand and spread our wings. We have just taken on new funding, and are about to take flight on our next chapter. To do that we are eagerly seeking someone to take over our eCommerce efforts with a key focus on Amazon and our own direct to consumer online store. Currently we are selling via our own branded store, however we are not on Amazon.
The role will be to establish our eCommerce efforts and help drive the growth, revenue and implementation of this department. The role will have clear KPIs and sales targets, however being so nascent, it will ultimately be up to you to define your career path and the direction of our business. We see this as a huge opportunity to get in on the ground floor and build not only our online business, but the foundation for your career in this space.

eCommerce Management:
We expect you to define and manage our overall eCommerce strategy, yet not be afraid of getting in the trenches and doing the work yourself. Particularly until our broader eCommerce team is built. You should have a deep eCommerce background with particular experience in digital marketing, purchase funnel optimization and social. The successful applicant will be responsible for driving traffic, setting and monitoring conversion metrics, the implementation of new content, CRM integrations, blog postings, order management, SEO / SEM optimization and financial integrations. Furthermore, you will drive and implement our CRM / email marketing efforts through MailChimp. You will often be expected to contribute to email marketing, thus prior success using this channel is a plus.
Amazon
Includes page management, customer reviews, inventory management. The successful applicant will be expected to implement best practices and select the most appropriate structure for our brand within the Amazon platform. The role will also entail some understanding of margin analysis and selection of the most optimal financial approach using Amazon. This role will also require basic levels of forecasting, inventory management and supply chain management.
Digital Marketing:
Digital Advertising
You will work with our partners and agencies to implement our digital marketing activities across key digital channels such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube and Pinterest. You will have access to our Business Manager Tools, Google Ad Words and Data Studio thus experience in these tools and platforms is a must.
Community Management
You will be expected to help grow and manage our social community across Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube and Pinterest. Under your stewardship, our agency partners will derive best practice content and activations, including CRM, research, brand partnerships and referrals. The successful applicant will have demonstrated acumen in these channels in either a management, implementation or creation role.
The role will be based in Boulder CO, however we have flexible work hours and support remote working when possible.
Requirements
5+ years eCommerce, Amazon and digital marketing experience
A bachelors degree in business, marketing, eCommerce or other related field
Proven track record of driving sales online
An understanding of customer behavior, digital marketing and social media
Experience for brands using Social Media as a marketing and brand building tool
Experience setting up brands on Amazon and an understanding of the alternative Amazon approaches
Experience using Adwords, Google Analytics, Data Studio and other reporting tools
Excellent written and language skills
A love for travel
A can-do attitude and a willingness to get it done no matter what the task
A keen attention to detail
A want for learning and to help drive and share in an up and coming local brand
Ability to work in Shopify, MailChimp, Google, PayPal and other online shopping tools
Compensation
Salary Dependent on experience. Starting contract $40K pa - $100k pa with sales bonuses.
We are ideally looking for a full-time freelance (6months) with a view to hire
We will complement salary with a generous revenue share of all sales driven through eCommerce
We will provide benefits upon migration from freelance to a permanent role
