The Corporate Counsel will be responsible for providing day to day legal support to the Maxar procurement department. This individual must have extensive experience in drafting and negotiating standard and non-standard commercial contracts, interpreting and drafting license terms, advising internal business leaders on risk and developing solutions. Proven personnel management skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills are required. The position reports to the Senior Counsel.

 

 

Summary

The Corporate Counsel will be responsible for providing day to day legal support to the Maxar procurement department. This individual must have extensive experience in drafting and negotiating standard and non-standard commercial contracts, interpreting and drafting license terms, advising internal business leaders on risk and developing solutions.  Proven personnel management skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills are required. The position reports to the Senior Counsel.     

Essential Job Functions

  • Drafts, reviews and negotiates vendor agreements including software license agreements, SaaS subscriptions, consulting agreements, real estate leases, marketing agreements and travel agreements.
  • Drafts and provides guidance and training on contract templates and procedures.
  • Manages the contracting process, including drafts, amendments and renewals
  • Coordinates with internal compliance, privacy, IT and security departments to ensure adherence to corporate policies
  • Provides such other support as requested.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctorate degree with an excellent academic record from accredited law school.
  • Admitted in Colorado or eligible for admission.
  • 2 - 4 years of experience, with some in-house experience and law firm experience preferred. 
  • Transactional experience.
  • Excellent customer relations and negotiating skills.
  • Working knowledge of privacy regulations including GDPR
  • Flexible and well-organized
  • Proven ability to work on a team.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to travel as needed
  • Professional and positive approach to daily business
  • Self motivated problem solver
  • Must be team oriented and have the ability to think creatively in resolving business and legal issues.
  • Must be able to lead teams of people to meet corporate goals and deadlines.
  • Hardworking, service oriented, self-starter with initiative.
