The Role

At Wunder, we have an amazing opportunity for a motivated, experienced, and impact-driven lawyer to join our fast-growing company and serve as General Counsel. Your role, broadly speaking, will be to solve problems and push renewable energy forward. Specifically, you will provide counsel on a wide range of legal matters, coordinate with external legal experts, advise on a variety of commercial transactions, and guard against potential legal risks that the company may face. An ideal candidate is someone with significant  knowledge and experience in:

• The commercial finance industry, through work with banks, financial institutions, and private investment firms.

• Asset-based and cash flow lending, leveraged acquisitions and recapitalizations, subordinated debt and mezzanine financings, financial asset acquisitions, and other forms of debt and equity financing.

• Restructurings, workouts, bankruptcies, and other matters relating to these financings.

• Transactions involving warehouses, office buildings, mixed-use properties, shopping centers, retail facilities, hotels, hospitality and leisure facilities, industrial facilities and condominium developments located throughout the United States.

Your "day-to-day" will change day to day, and it will require a commercial perspective, cross-functional ethos, and roll-up-the-sleeves attitude.

About You

• This Is What You Do - You have 5+ years of experience as a practicing lawyer, with experience in the commercial finance, commercial real estate, and/or financial services industries. Renewable energy experience is great, but not required.

• You have led legal engagements in the past - You know how to step in and quickly ramp up, manage your time across competing priorities, and take ownership over Legal’s responsibilities. 

• Superior Written, Oral, and Presentation Skills - You're happy to work via phone, fire off a bunch of emails, jump into a spreadsheet, shake some hands, and make a board presentation. This isn't a big bank or law firm where your responsibilities are silo-ed; here you'll need to work dynamically and cross-functionally.

• A No-Task-Is-Too-Small Attitude - Wunder is a small, scrappy financial technology company, but we close big deals and make a big impact. A lot needs to get done in the process, and there's no room for ego here.

• You have a Team Ethos - You thrive in a creative, inventive, fast-paced startup environment, with people who are passionate about their work and mission. You’re not just excited to work cross- functionally, you demand it.
