Overview of position:
In our new position of Director of Legal Affairs, you will report to the CFO. As a member of the finance, legal, accounting, and HR team, internally known as FLA$H, you’ll have the opportunity to take ownership of a myriad of challenging aspects of this young company and see the immediate impact of your valued contributions and leadership.
What you’ll be doing:
- Provide broad-based legal support to Scaled Agile.
- Develop, manage, and negotiate contracts with Global 2000 companies for the licensing of courseware and service offerings.
- Lead our privacy practices, corporate compliance, and a variety of other legal projects.
- Communicate legal issues in an articulate and timely manner to internal personnel and to external customers and vendors.
- Research and advise on various legal issues including intellectual property, privacy, data security, licensing, and employment law.
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts and transactions relating to a variety of complex areas, including licensing, insurance, vendor, marketing, operations, conferences, sponsorship, and service agreements.
- Assist with the company’s international expansion initiatives, including corporate and entity structuring.
- Work positively in a collaborative environment on a dynamic team.
- Provide input on company policies and procedures for SAI’s general operation and human resource standards.
- Work with our outside counsel on projects.
Skills and experience that are important for the role:
J.D. degree with an active license to practice in Colorado.
- 4+ years of legal experience (combination of in-house law firm and corporate).
- Strong business acumen with a commercial business-oriented approach to problem solving, tempered by an appreciation for legal complexity and risk.
- Proven success record of effectively representing the legal needs of a company.
- High level of integrity and trust.
- Ability and attitude to be resourceful, motivated, creative, and flexible.
- Excellent legal, communications, analytical, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

This position is based in our corporate headquarters and learning center in Boulder, Colorado.
