The Compliance Counsel works side-by-side with our VP of Corporate Counsel, Legal Operations, and other members of the senior staff including the CFO, Chief Information Security Officer, and leadership in our foreign subsidiaries to shape and manage our global compliance program. They work closely with internal stakeholders from all areas of the organization and advise management on compliance-related issues such as data privacy, cybersecurity, HIPAA, anti-corruption, and export compliance. The Counsel also assists with general responsibilities concerning the legal affairs of Pax8 and its business units. 

Essential Responsibilities and Percentage of Time Spent (includes, but is not limited to):

  • Provide legal counsel on and support the development of the strategy, delivery, and evaluation of the global Pax8 compliance program which includes the development and implementation of appropriate policies and controls related to data privacy, cybersecurity, anti-corruption, and export compliance, as well as the establishment of monitoring procedures to ensure compliance with applicable rules and regulations as well as Pax8 policies (25%)
  • Build and implement compliance related programs, such as global data privacy, partner due diligence processes, anti-bribery programs, and trainings; prepare, update, implement and manage policies, communications and training presentations relating to compliance, and maintain records of communications and training. Provide compliance training to all levels of the organization (25%)
  • Foster a culture of compliance through periodic, in-person training and leadership communications on various topics and company values (15%)
  • Oversee compliance monitoring, responses, resolution, and reports (15%)
  • Monitor and analyze new regulatory and legal compliance requirements; determine relevant impact and recommend and assist with implementation of plans to meet applicable requirements (10%)
  • Conduct internal investigations of compliance issues, business partner and government inquiries, and handle responses and resolution (10%)

Ideal Skills, Experience, and Competencies:

  • At least two (2) years of experience in-house or at a law firm (both preferred)
  • Strong experience in compliance practice areas common to global companies, including data privacy, anti-corruption, export controls, and antitrust, and corporate governance
  • Demonstrated experience building or maintaining a compliance program with a global organization
  • Ability to independently move projects forward by gaining the support needed from stakeholders while working in a cross-functional role
  • Proven track record of collaborating with groups (e.g., finance, operations, product, sales, internal IT) to set objectives and produce meaningful results
  • A goal-oriented professional with the ability to influence and drive change
  • Excellent interpersonal, and oral and written communication skills with the ability to effectively explain complex legal issues to non-lawyers
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and successfully manage multiple deadlines

Required Education & Certifications:

  • J.D. and active attorney license required

Compensation:

  • Qualified candidates can expect a salary beginning at $125,000 or more depending on experience

*Note: Compensation is benchmarked on local Denver Metro area market rates. Qualified candidates in other locations can expect a salary package that may be adjusted based off applicable cost of wages in their respective location.
