The role

The 2021 Summer Intern - Electrical Engineering will report to Electrical Engineering Management and support the development of proprietary hardware products for autonomous trucking systems targeted at a private-property application at large logistics hubs. This position requires a very capable electrical engineering student with exceptional problem-solving and project management skills. The successful candidate will work as a member of the electrical engineering team and work on tasks that further the development of autonomous vehicle features that redefine logistics automation.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Perform system and product integration tasks
  • Perform basic prototyping and fabrication of parts
  • Design, analyze and test complex electronic systems that enable advanced autonomous vehicles
  • Develop, improve and sustain electronic testing fixtures and processes
  • Evaluate new electronic components and their impact on system safety and performance
  • Develop assembly drawings and cable drawings for engineering products
  • Support field testing and debugging

Required qualifications

  • Rising junior or senior in a bachelors program or actively enrolled in a masters program in electrical engineering and/or computer engineering
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional analytical skills
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and able to work effectively within a team

Ideal qualifications

  • C/C++ experience/coursework
  • PCB design, assembly, and rework experience
  • Work in a Linux environment and targeting embedded deployment
  • Experience with robotics software engineering, autonomous vehicle systems, robotic perception, manipulation systems, computer vision, and/or planning and controls
