Position Description:

 

The Tax Manager will be the Company’s first tax professional and will be responsible for creating the strategy and ultimate direction of the tax department. This professional will oversee all areas of tax compliance and will work closely with current external advisors. The ideal candidate has proven performance in establishing a high performing tax department and has worked in a high growth environment implementing controls and establishing formal processes. This position will work closely with payroll, the FP&A team, and will report directly to the Controller.

 

Position Responsibilities:
 

· Oversee all tax filings and ensure compliance with various regulatory requirements.

· Maintain schedules supporting all filing and general ledger balances.

· Oversee (and, in some cases, prepare) federal, state, and local tax returns in collaboration with external tax advisors.

· Support payroll where needed with proper registration and remittance of payroll taxes.

· Refresh current sales tax assessment for entire company and update tax software as needed.

· Maintain tax calendar and state tax matrix for compliance and NEXUS within sales tax software.

· Manage relationship with sales tax software provider.

· Analyze and file property/use tax returns as required.

· Research tax issues and respond to IRS and State Tax inquiries.

· Prepare annual tax provision in conjunction with year-end audit.

· Manage tax credits and suggest other strategic tax initiatives.

· Oversee 1099 filing and tracking process.

· Proactively make suggestions regarding future tax considerations including tax implications on new business/employment decisions.

· Work cross functionally with other departments

Requirements

 

· BS Degree in Accounting, Business or a related field

· CPA required

· 8+ years progressive tax experience.

· 2+ years public accounting experience.

· Ability to work independently with a high level of creativity, innovation, initiative, and sense of ownership

· Good communication skills with people at all levels

· Flexible and adaptable

· Extreme organizational capabilities and high attention to detail

· Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills

· Strong organizational and planning skills

· Self-motivated, quick learner, and independent thinker

· Have a “do whatever it takes” attitude; dedication to going the extra mile

· High degree of integrity and business ethics

 

 

Position Details: This position reports to the Controller. This is a full-time, exempt position.

 

Location: KPA's headquarters in Lafayette, CO.
