The Senior Manager, Tax will join a global tax department, working primarily with the tax Staff and tax Sr. Director, to enhance shareholder value by optimizing tax planning and structuring in a highly acquisitive environment. In this role the candidate will be primarily responsible for managing US income tax issues within the company’s global and US tax planning and acquisition activities. OpenText is a highly technical and leveraged tax department with a multitude of intricacies with numerous opportunities to add value. The candidate should be comfortable in a fast paced, dynamic environment and able to handle a diverse range of projects and responsibilities.

Specific Objectives & Responsibilities:

Your First Six Months and Beyond:

 

  • Research and manage implementation of US tax initiatives within scope of the company’s US and global tax projects
  • Assist with due diligence and planning of M&A activities, related opening tax balance sheet and financial statement impacts, and planning post acquisition integration
  • Collaborate with tax team to support US GAAP provision process
  • Research, analyze, and interpret federal, state, and local tax laws
  • Assist transfer pricing team with incorporating target tax structures into the Open Text tax and legal framework

  • Demonstrated leadership capability in cross-functional team environments
  • High degree of comfort with complex technical environments
  • Having and being able to articulate/defend an informed opinion on important topics

Skills & Experience:

 

 

  • Bachelor degree, specialization in accounting, tax or finance a plus, masters, JD, CPA a plus
  • 7+ years experience in tax
  • Public accounting a plus
  • Experience working with or for a large multinational C-corp
  • Experience with inbound/outbound tax due diligence
  • Experience with internal tax transactions and structuring
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong project management skills and ability to work collaboratively and constructively across organizations
