Based in Denver and reporting to the Director of Financial Reporting & Technical Accounting, the Equity Plan Administrator will be joining SendGrid at a critical stage of the company’s growth.  This is a newly created role on the Financial Operations team.  You will be responsible for the full scope of our employee stock award program and driving process improvements.  In addition, you also play a vital part in general accounting.  

What You’ll Do

Equity Specific Duties

  • Manage the company’s long-term incentive plan; maintain accurate records in the equity database
  • Preparation of equity grants, processing of option exercises and vesting transactions, and processing of terminations and cancellations. Ensures all transactions are processed accurately and timely
  • Responsible for employee stock-based compensation expense calculations and financial reporting pursuant to SFAS 123R (ASC 718), and basic and diluted weighted average shares outstanding calculations and reporting pursuant to SFAS 128 (ASC ASC 260)
  • Responsible for monthly equity journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Prepare equity related 10Q and 10K footnote disclosures and proxy statement tables
  • Evaluate and select an equity administration tool. Oversee implementation process, if applicable
  • Maintain Sarbanes-Oxley documentation and assist with control testing
  • Provide periodic reporting; develop equity data to present to the Compensation Committee and/or Board of Directors
  • Oversee and provide guidance and direction on processes and data management performed by People Operations in order to ensure the integrity of the equity data
  • Work with management and employees at all levels of the organization on items related to the stock compensation plan, including education
  • Support external audits, including quarterly reviews and year-end financial audit
  • Effectively collaborate with Accounting, People Operations, Payroll, Legal and Tax departments on matters relating to stock compensation awards
  • Ad hoc projects as needed 

General Accounting Duties

  • Assist with month end close including journal entries, account reconciliations, and fluctuation analysis to cover areas such as intangible assets, warrant liability, and non-GAAP metrics.
  • Assist with preparation of both internal and external financial statements, including
    • drafting footnotes and compiling information
    • management discussion and analysis
    • completion of GAAP checklist
    • preparation of the cash flow statement

About You

  • 6+ years of experience (preferably with a combination of public accounting and industry experience)
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel including pivot tables and vlookups
  • Knowledge of FAS 123R (ASC 718) and FAS 128 (ASC 260) along with the desire to learn more
  • Strong financial and accounting skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Demonstrated success in fast paced environment
  • Commitment to innovation and process enhancement
  • Strengths include organization, time management, problem solving, and ability to work independently
  • Ability to effectively prioritize, make, and meet commitments, while working individually and in teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skill
  • Active CPA license preferred
  • Experience with international equity plans

Bonus Points

  • Experience with creating and maintaining internal controls
  • Experience with financial statement preparation (including footnote disclosure), technical accounting including identification of issues, research, memo preparation, and discussion with management
