Job Description
Due to a recent promotion, we currently have an opportunity for a Sr. Director of Corporate and Technical Accounting to join our team!
Reporting to the Vice President of Accounting/Controller, the selected candidate will be responsible for leading a team to execute on all activities related to Corporate Accounting. Acting as a strategic member of our Accounting team, the Sr. Director of Corporate Accounting will be responsible for activities related to external (SEC) and internal reporting, investor presentations, corporate AP/AR, payroll accounting, debt transactions, and planning.

- Apply knowledge of GAAP, SOX, and SEC compliance to ensure the consistent delivery of high-quality reporting and analysis.
- Responsible for all Corporate Accounting operations, including debt transactions, reconciliations, AP/AR, payroll, chargebacks, and planning.
- Critically evaluate processes, and provide recommendations for efficiencies.
- Identify opportunities for process automation when possible.
- Lead a team in the preparation and review of SEC filing requirements (10-K, 10-Q, 11-K, 8-K, etc.) in accordance with SEC rules and regulations.
- Collaborate on the preparation and review of supplemental information included in quarterly earnings releases.
- Coordination of internal management reviews of documents to ensure that all feedback is assimilated into submitted documents and disclosures.
- Adherence to internal and external review and filing deadlines, including tracking and communication of status.
- Utilization of Active Disclosure, a cloud-based reporting solution, to complete filings with the SEC.
- Draft responses to SEC comment letters and working with reporting team, external auditors and securities counsel to finalize responses.
- Ability to analyze and understand complex transactions, apply complex accounting standards to those transactions, and effectively communicate the results to the stakeholders.
- Applying advanced accounting concepts, theories and principals to develop solutions to problems. Adhering to FASB guidelines and GAAP, company policies and procedures and other regulations in the performance of duties.
- Collaborate effectively with internal clients, including Property Operations, Corporate Tax, Investor Relations, Internal Audit, Redevelopment, and others.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and hold a CPA.
- 10+ years of experience with complex accounting including SEC reporting and GAAP.
- Proven success with managing a team of finance professionals through ambiguity while still driving results.
- Prior experiencing working in Real Estate or Public Accounting (Big 4) industries is highly preferred.
- Confident communicator with the level of maturity and presence necessary to influence senior executives and business leaders.
- Thrives on driving innovation and change that will propel the business forward.
- Consistently practices strategic thinking and nimble problem-solving tactics to stay ahead of business priorities.
