Description Summary

The Senior Accountant will be an integral part of the Accounting team and ensure that the month-end close process is as efficient and effective as possible.  The main emphasis for this position will be research and implementation of technical accounting topics and timely and accurate reporting of monthly financial statements, including an analytical review and summary of financial results. The Senior Accountant will be asked to help with ad hoc projects, where necessary.  This position will report to and work closely with the Assistant Controller.

What You'll Do

Technical Accounting

  • Assist with ASC 606 implementation and ongoing revenue recognition of customer contracts
  • Assist with purchase accounting that may arise from M&A activity
  • Assist with merging accounting policies of acquired companies
  • Assist with technical accounting research and memorialize in accounting position memos

 Monthly Close

  • Contribute to 5 day close
  • Mentor GL accountants through monthly process and ad hoc technical queries
  • Review journal entries for month-end closing prepared by GL accountants
  • Review and analyze monthly general ledger account reconciliations prepared by GL accountants
  • Prepare journal entries and reconciliations as needed on an ad hoc basis
  • Assist GL accountants with consolidation and financial statement preparation and review (e.g., financial reporting packages needed for delivery to leadership team and investors on a monthly basis and GAAP-compliant financial statements), specifically monthly GAAP financial statements including Cash Flow Proof

 Internal Control Preparation

  • Document and update accounting processes, including current control structure as required, especially with a forward-looking focus on eventual internal control structure implementation
  • Assist in year-end audit

 Financial Planning & Analysis

  • Support the annual budget process
  • Assist with monthly budget variance reporting
  • Analyze operating metrics and budget variance used in corporate reporting

Other

  • Assist in financial due diligence as needed
  • Prepare and analyze ad hoc requests

What You Bring to Tendril

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting
  • 3-5 years relevant work experience (Public Accounting experience preferred)
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge and ability to take initiative to research and learn new accounting concepts
  • Strong quantitative and analytical abilities
  • Strong attention to detail and presentation aesthetics
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work largely independently when given clear direction and to plan, organize, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Strong work ethic with a commitment to getting to the right answer via personal initiative, perseverance, and teamwork
