Position Description: The Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable Specialist performs accounting and clerical tasks related to the efficient maintenance and processing of accounting transactions.

 

In the first week you will:

• Become well acquainted with KPA’s AR / AP processes and policies

 

In the first 30 days you will:

• Successfully and accurately complete data entry of invoices.

• Become acquainted with vendors and respond to vendor inquiries in a timely manner.

• Review employee expense reports for accuracy, reasonableness and proper coding.

• Perform day to day financial transactions, including verifying, classifying, computing, posting and recording accounts receivables’ data.

• Process accounts and incoming payments in compliance with financial policies and procedures .

• Prepare bills, invoices and bank deposits.

• Maintain vendor files with latest information (i.e. vendor addresses/phone numbers).

 

In the first 90 days you will and ongoing:

• Execute the AR and AP processes with a high degree of accuracy and quality performance

• Demonstrate accuracy in reconciling and researching differences in vendor statements

• Prepare reimbursement summary for payroll

• File accounts payable and general accounting documents

• Keep track of payment deadlines and set up weekly check batches

• Assemble checks and documents for distribution, mails as required

• Reconcile the accounts receivable ledger to ensure that all payments are accounted for and properly posted.

• Facilitate payment of invoices due by sending bill reminders and contacting clients

• Prepares Annual 1099’s

 

Requirements

• Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school

• Minimum of 3 years related experience

• Knowledge of general accounting procedures

• Proficient in data entry and time management

• Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office –Excel, Word and Outlook)

• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy of work performed

• Good communication skills both oral and written with the ability to effectively communicate via face-to-face, phone, or by other means of communication

o Ability to write clear, concise emails to request information

• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions 

• Ability to process data and organize it for management analysis 

• Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices

• Ability to interact well with others and be a positive influence on employee morale throughout the organization

• This is a non-exempt position

• Position is based out of KPA’s headquarters in Lafayette, CO.
