Staff Software Engineer
The software engineering group in which this candidate is joining is responsible for the Mission Control System (MCS) domain of the DigitalGlobe Ground System for our constellation of earth observation satellites. The role reports to an Agile Manager, and works with System Engineers, Operations Engineers, Spacecraft Engineers, Operators, Scrum Master and Product Owner.
As a member of an agile scrum team, the Staff Software Engineer will work on a cross-functional team on both the legacy and next gen systems. The team member will provide on-schedule, high quality, operational and test code adhering to designs, acceptance criteria and corporate standards, with appropriate demonstrations and documentation.
Responsibilities
- Develop code for operations and validation
- Automated and Manual Testing – Functional, Integration, Performance, Regression
- Demonstration and documentation of functionality and test results
- Trouble Shooting
- Support deadlines and communicate issues/results
- Participate in Communities of Practice for continuous improvement of the results of the craft.
- Tier 4 technical support of operations for software developed by the team.
Basic Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years software development and/or software test development and execution for complex software systems.
- Experience with test automation using scripting languages; e.g. Python/Ruby using Cucumber, Gherkin
- Expertise in UNIX.
- Currently hold or able to obtain an US security clearance
Preferred Qualifications
- B.S. in Computer Science, or an engineering degree with software focus
- Expertise with Ruby is a plus but the team also works in C++, Java and Python
- Experience with Angular.js
- Experience working in an Agile Scrum environment
- Experience with SOA/REST/JSON/AWS S3/PostgreSQL/Cloud Foundry/Elastic Search
- Experience with real-time ops support of a complex UNIX-based system
