The Sr. Middleware Systems Engineer will be responsible for the performance, administration, and support of our RedHat and webMethods Product Suites.  Duties will be comprised of application administration, performance tuning, platform monitoring and diagnostics, developer, end user, project, and system support, and ensuring adherence to architecture and governance standards.  The Sr. Middleware Systems Engineer will develop policies and standards related to the use of computing resources, overall strategy, design, implementation, and operational aspects of multiple systems, and related software.   In addition the candidate should have good skills in database knowledge, and UNIX experience. The candidate will work on a team responsible for implementing application specific solutions using RedHat and webMethods software products. The selected individual must be highly motivated. 

  • Responsible for the support, troubleshooting, administration and configuration of RedHat JBoss BPMS/BRMS applications and services used for the production, QA and development environments.
  • Responsible for the support, troubleshooting, administration and configuration of webMethods applications and services used for the production, QA and development environments.
  • Work closely with development teams to understand application changes and their impact on middleware services such as JDBC connection pools, security, logging and JVM memory.
  • Proactively analyze and improve BPMS/BRMS and webMethods application deployments.
  • Develop tools to automate development and release management processes.
  • Oversee and apply appropriate support packages/patches to maintain system integrity.
  • Investigate and contribute to solving various dev, test, and production environment issues.
  • Ensure availability and stability of production environments.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ year hands-on experience managing either WebLogic or JBoss environments combined with a Java Developer, Systems Administrator or DBA background.
  • Experience with Linux operating system tools, scripting tools, file permissions, resource provisioning, and troubleshooting in a virtual environment.
  • Proficiency with Java Virtual Machine tuning including configuration and real time monitoring of heap/non-heap sizing and garbage collection methodology.
  • Proficiency with Java EE  application deployments and troubleshooting in a multi-server environment.
  • Ability to understand complex, interdependent software systems.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Secret clearance.
  • BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Excellent Apache and J2EE Application server troubleshooting skills
  • Knowledge of Agile development process from build through deployment
