Senior Spark Software Engineer

Responsibilities
- Software engineering, design, and architecture primarily on the data science side of the house, using pySpark on Azure Databricks platform
- Hopping over to help with data engineering or the Flask API if required
- Finding unexpected wins and implementing them – your initiative and feedback is valued here!
- Experience working with big data and architecting advanced analytical platforms
- Strong understanding of software engineering principles, design principals, performance and how to code efficient algorithms at scale
- Self-starting attitude, but able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
Required
- 4+ years’ experience as Senior Software Engineer, working with python, or other programming languages
- 2+ years’ experience with Spark and specifically pySpark writing distributed and parallel program execution logic – or convincingly argue relevance of experience with technologies like Koalas, PyFlink, Dask and Apache Arrow
- Must be a good teammate – difficult ‘geniuses’ need not apply
- Strong knowledge of performance tradeoffs of different approaches, and ability to debug & tune performance issues
- Strong understanding of security best practices
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure Databricks and/or other cloud computing platforms
Desired
- Previous experience implementing data science algorithms
- Computer Science or related degree
- Previous healthcare experience, understanding of HIPAA and HITRUST security requirements
Other Details:
- This role is a full-time, exempt position
- Starting salary range is $116,000-$150,000
