About the Role

We are looking for a Ruby on Rails developer responsible for implementing and maintaining server-side logic around common e-commerce needs ranging from subscription management, billing, finance, inventory management and scalable infrastructure. While this position is heavily focused on server-side development, we’re a small team, so you’ll be responsible for tackling some front-end tasks from time-to-time.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable Ruby code
  • Integration of user-facing elements developed by front-end developers with server side logic
  • Identify bottlenecks and bugs, and devise solutions to these problems
  • Help maintain code quality, organization and automatization
  • PostgreSQL query writing, optimization

Required Skills

  • Experience with Ruby on Rails, along with other common libraries such as RSpec and Resque
  • Good understanding of the syntax of Ruby and its nuances and tools like Rubocop to identify improper syntax
  • Solid understanding of object-oriented programming
  • Good understanding of server-side CSS preprocessors
  • Basic understanding of front-end technologies, such as JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3
  • Familiarity with concepts of MVC, Mocking, ORM, and RESTful
  • A knack for writing clean, readable Ruby code
  • Understanding of fundamental design principles behind a scalable application
  • Able to create database schemas that represent and support business processes
  • Able to implement automated testing platforms and unit tests
  • Proficient understanding of Git

Additional Preferred Skills

  • AWS, as we run our platform on Elastic Beanstalk and are always looking to take more advantage of the AWS ecosystem
  • Double entry accounting
  • Prior experience with 3rd party logistics shipping/fulfillment
  • Prior e-commerce experience
