Software Engineer
The software development group is responsible for defining and managing the development and deployment of the functional design of the DigitalGlobe Ground System including: core image processing systems, interfaces with business systems, and web services initiatives. This is an opportunity to work in a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) organization with Software Testers, System Engineers, Product Owners, Scrum Masters, and Production Staff to support and maintain an integrated, complex system of proprietary software and COTS tools. DigitalGlobe has been recognized as one of the leading Agile organizations both in Colorado and nationwide. Experience working in an Agile workplace is desired, a strong desire to work in an Agile environment is required.
Responsibilites
- Responsible for implementing high level design specifications provided by either an architect or a senior team lead, either as a solo effort or with peer senior engineers.
- Perform development activities including coding of architecture/solution spikes, design documents, and prototyping.
- Develop ReSTful microservice components to support the end-to-end workflow of the ground software system.
- Provide Tier-4 level support of the ground software system.
- Foster and support the on-going growth and practices of agile development within the organization.
Basic Qualifications
- Familiarity with the Linux operating system.
- Programming experience using both Java and Python.
- Experience with Java frameworks and development tools such as Spring, Hibernate, J2EE, Maven, et al.
- Experience with spatial database development.
- Knowledge of Service Oriented Architecture principles.
- Bachelor of Science in a technical discipline. Preferably Computer Science.
- Ability to obtain a U.S. government issued security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Secondary focus on math, physics, or engineering.
- Experience with AWS configuration and development.
- Experience with PostgreSQL and PostGIS extensions.
- Knowledge of ReSTful microservices.
- Knowledge of geospatial vector data.
- Experience with ArcGIS software components.
- Knowledge of raster image formats.
