What you will do and who you are:

• You want to work closely with Product Managers, UX, and Front-end Engineers to build and maintain scalable and efficient APIs that support the future growth of our business
• You desire a fast-paced/startup work environment
• You do not expect to just work through a pile of requirements, but also to contribute to the technical design to find the best solution for the problem at hand
• You are an experienced developer who brings fresh ideas to the table, and challenges the team to think about things from a different perspective
• You are a business-minded developer who understands the implications of what you build and the changes you make
• You are a passionate developer with problem solving skills, an impressive ability to communicate and collaborate with other teams, and a relentless determination to do what is right for our users and our customers
• You are a responsible developer who consciously designs for security, and is always careful with sensitive production data including credentials and PII
• You take pride in delivering high-quality, reliable code, and are diligent about testing your code at multiple levels (unit tests, integration tests, QA / automated testing)

What we value:

• 5-7+ years experience in a developer role
• 3-5+ years experience with Ruby on Rails
  • Ruby on Rails (or similar back-end framework)
  • JSON APIs
  • PostgreSQL (or similar relational database)
• 1-2+ years experience with:
  • Docker (or similar containerization system) in production environments
  • Continuous Integration / Deployment in production environments
• Experience writing thorough unit and integration specs with RSpec (or similar framework)
• Experience code reviewing others' work and mentoring less-experienced developers

Extra value:

• Experience with Elixir or other server-side languages
• Experience with the HashiStack (Nomad, Consul, Vault, etc.)
• Experience with a queueing system (SQS, RabbitMQ, or similar)
• Experience with a microservice architecture
