Job Description

We’re looking for a Senior or Principal Software Engineer who will join one of our Linux Endpoint Development teams within the Carbon Black Cloud R&D group to build solutions that will help us deliver industry-leading Linux Endpoint Security products to our customers.

Join us and become a part of the highly efficient agile team that builds bleeding-edge endpoint detection, protection, and response solutions utilizing modern Linux technologies and applying advanced software development methodologies to ensure the highest level of quality and fast time to market.

What You’ll Do

  • Participate in all phases of the software development cycle as part of a Scrum team

  • Plan, develop and own new Linux Endpoint Security products and features that run on a wide variety of Linux distributions (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, SUSE, Amazon Linux, etc.)

  • Contribute to product direction by leading design discussions and collaborating with team architects, product management, endpoint, backend, and front-end engineers to deliver the right solution

  • Continuously improve customer experience, quality, performance, and stability of the existing products

  • Develop and support internal tools for our build, test, and CI/CD infrastructure

What You’ll Bring

  • A team-first attitude. We’re a team where the whole is greater than the sum of its parts

  • 5+ years of experience with user-space, system, or kernel-level development on Linux and a solid understanding of Linux OS architecture. We’re developing mission-critical security solutions that are deeply integrated with the Linux operating system

  • Our products are written in modern C/C++, so expert knowledge of these languages is required

  • Passion for building high-quality products, experience with test-driven development, and a “test-first” mentality. Quality is at the center of everything we do. In fact, we produce more test code than the production code

  • Experience with debugging complex issues in Linux userspace and ideally in the kernel space

  • Proficiency with Bash scripting (Bash scripts are a part of our product)

  • Experience with Python is a plus (we use it for test automation)

  • Experience with Docker/GitLabCI/Jenkins is a plus (we use these tools for our build/test and CI/CD infrastructure)

  • Interest in computer security and a desire to learn

  • Linux

  • Bash

  • Git

  • Agile Software Development
