POSITION OVERVIEW:

As an Avero Senior API Engineer, you will be responsible for the development of our SaaS restaurant management platform. You will drive and personally embody a new, quality-focused engineering culture that demands high-quality, robust and innovative solutions to the complex business problems our customers face. As a Senior API Engineer, you will be responsible for the development of Avero's web APIs for external customers and internal users. You will drive and personally embody a new engineering culture that demands high-quality, robust and innovative solutions to the complex business problems our customers face.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

- Design, implement and maintain scalable APIs, for external customers and internal users.

- Continuously improve tooling and the developer experience for api customers.

- Set new engineering standards and improve on existing ones.

- Build the next generation api for the Avero data standard.

- Compose and knit together microservices to provide robust APIs.

WHO YOU ARE:

- A senior engineer, possibly with experience as a technical lead.

- You enjoy and have experience building scalable and highly available APIs.

- You understand the value of design, architecture and tradeoffs.

- You uphold high engineering standards and consistency.

- You value the developer experience first when building APIs.

- You have deployed applications to the cloud ie. (AWS, GCP, AZURE)

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

- Familiarity with Go, Python, Rust, Ruby or other non-JVM language.

- High proficiency in Java and associated frameworks and practices.

- Familiarity with containerized infrastructure.

- Deep understanding of the http protocol.

- Experience with gRPC preferred.
