JOB SUMMARY

The Principal Software Engineer I will join a high performing agile software engineering team, building innovative software to support VOD delivery to Charter customers. As a leader on the team, this role will work to help the team prioritize, build, and ship the most impactful features to our customers. The ideal candidate is a technical professional who has experience developing innovative and reliable software, while balancing needs, time limitations, and system limitations. Additionally, candidate will serve as a mentor to help guide and train other engineers on the team. It will be expected that candidate stay up to date on new technologies & software development practices, leveraging these skills to advance the teams' deliverables.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.
Contribute to the technical direction, execution and final decisions for all software solutions created (includes information architecture, software architecture, software design, testing, automation, analytics and instrumentation)
Improve the quality and performance of all existing and new software solutions
Design, implement, monitor, enhance and troubleshoot systems in assigned areas
Analyze, revise and document difficulties in existing system logic
Mentor and guide the work of technical staff
Take ownership and make technical decisions on software development projects
Develop and implement software according to proposals
Estimate scope of work and implement software proposals
Create project documentation
Implement software proposals
Keep current with trends and technological innovations in the industry in order to contribute to the execution of proofs-of-concept for new approaches
Collaborate with leadership and key stakeholders to define and develop technology strategy, technology standards, roadmaps, and practices
Adhere to best practices for code development, version control, continuous integration/delivery, and test/build automation
Comfortable defining and evangelizing web technologies across the organization
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Required Skills/Abilities and Knowledge

Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
Thorough understanding of software engineering and object-oriented design principles
Demonstrated knowledge of development of Microservices using Java, Spring Boot and/or cloud technologies
Ability to take ownership and make technical decisions on software development projects
Ability to keep current with trends and technological innovations in the industry in order to contribute to the execution of proofs-of-concept for new approaches
Familiarity with dependency management and build systems like Maven and Ant
Experience working with open-source software such as Spring, Google Guice, Guava, Tomcat, and NoSQL solutions
Experience working with technologies such as Java, Spring Boot, Kubernetes, Docker, Databases (Relational and NoSQL), Elasticsearch, Kibana, Mongo, RESTful web services, AWS, Kafka, Microservices, Maven, Git, Eclipse/NetBeans/IntelliJ, continuous integration testing, shell scripting

The pay for this position has a salary range of $107,600.00 to $191,200.00. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience and location. Also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of compensation such as bonuses.
