Position Description:
Faction is seeking an extremely talented Network Engineer who has expert experience in cloud networks and virtual infrastructure, with a proficient understanding of VMWare products that approaches solutions with an “automation first” mentality.
The ideal candidate must be able to work independently and intelligently, function well in a team environment, and display excellent communication skills. Our Network Engineer are responsible for resolving complex service issues, support engineering services to partner teams and assisting with the implementation of complex projects. This role is a key position in maintaining our network infrastructure in multiple datacenters and will be called upon to resolve high level technical issues.
Principle Activities:
- Perform management and maintenance operations on Factions network
- Utilize ITIL process when implementing changes.
- Act as a support escalation point to
- 1) fulfill client service requests and deliver world-class client service
- 2) troubleshoot and remedy reported service issues
- Collaborate with Faction internal and external clients to plan and execute infrastructure upgrades while ensuring 100% service uptime
- Migrate existing processes to sustainable and repeatable automated processes
- Work closely with other Senior Engineers to provision services for new and existing clients
- Mentor and train first level support staff
- Enhance operational support processes
- Maintain and create design documentation, enhance operational support systems
- Review and act upon infrastructure capacity and performance trends

Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years experience as a Network Engineer, preferably at a service provider
- Excellent data communications experience including:
- IP routing (BGP / OSPF)
- Firewall technology and IPSEC VPNs
- Spanning tree and VLAN trunking
- Ability to work independently and execute tasks with minimal guidance
- Hands on experience with performance managing and monitoring a mission critical MPLS/VPLS network backbone in a heterogeneous environment
- Ability to work independently and execute tasks with minimal guidance
- World-class client service skills
- Self-starter with a demonstrative history of excellent communication and time management skills
- Lifting and exerting up to 50 lbs of force
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science from an accredited university
- Aptitude to learn and support a multi-tenant cloud infrastructure
- Experience supporting Brocade network hardware (CER, VDX and TurboIron)
- Experience with Cisco UCS
- Experience with TRILL, VPLS, QnQ protocols
- Experience following ITIL best practices
- Knowledge of VMware Products
- Amazon Certified SysOps Administrator
- Vmware Certified Professional
