Role Overview

We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer Technician to join our team. As a manufacturing technician, you will be responsible for supporting all production goals for XB-1, the first independently developed supersonic jet and history's fastest civil aircraft.

Tasks could include drawing review and releases, work instruction authoring, scheduling people and equipment, chasing parts from supply chain and through the shop, quality control, test planning and execution, or a whole host of other production control support depending on your experience. 

This is a contract position that will last right now through March 2021

Main Responsibilities:

The responsibilities for this role are diverse and stretch from cradle to grave for the XB-1 program. The primary responsibility is to support production and test activities to make sure XB-1 objectives are met. Duties include multidisciplinary responsibilities and can be tailored depending on expertise and experience. Examples of impactful responsibilities include: 

  • Maintaining processes and continuous improvements, efficiency improvements, build plan maintenance, work instruction authoring, identification of tools and processes needed to complete a job, tool design and fab, coordination with engineering for definition releases and clarifications and design reviews
  • Reviewing drawings and specs for release
  • Supporting the shop floor in all aspects of the build to keep them as productive as possible
  • Reviewing test plans, tooling identification design and fab, instrumentation, data acquisition, test prep, test schedule and documentation
  • Identifying and specifying proper hardware, modeling of parts, updating models and drawings, and identifying best practices for part type designs, improving and creating standard operating procedures
  • Keep the shop flowing by maintaining build schedule discipline, updating the schedule and driving schedule improvements
  • Deliver metrics, Shop Vis board updates and improvements
  • Identify risks, preventing material shortages and excesses, reviewing delivery dates to support build plans, kitting parts, and maintaining quality standards
  • Identifying shop resources required from people resources to tool resources and identifying capacity constraints early
  • Maintain the daily operating rhythms and improve visibility on all issues: Manpower, Methods, Machine, Materials, Measurement and Mother Nature 
  • Releasing parts for PO, vendor support, identifying part shortages and improving delivery, vendor quality and requirements
  • Responsibility for process compliance audits/inspections, writing and chasing NCR’s to closure, continuous improvement, receiving quality and inspections, part inspection, in process inspections, build documentation compliance and improvement, metrics and identifying risk reduction opportunities

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma
  • 1 year of relevant experience in manufacturing or engineering

It would be awesome if you had:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Aircraft/component fabrication experience
  • Aviation or Automotive lean manufacturing experience
