Lead Web Development Instructor, Principal Full Stack Developer

We are seeking an inspiring leader, a passionate educator, and a practical problem solver with demonstrated flexibility and curiosity experienced in building classroom cultures that nurture a growth mindset and the practice of lean principles. Responsibilities: 

  • Work with instructional team to provide purposeful lessons and class activities five days a week, for 24 weeks.
  • Plan daily lessons.
  • Deliver lectures and tutorials.
  • Support students during project work.
  • Occasionally lead day-long “sprints,” maintaining a strong presence in the classroom
  • Deftly and patiently field student questions and provide feedback in lectures and office hours.
  • Assess students on an continual basis and provide prompt feedback on student progress.
  • Assist in student job placement process.
  • Help develop internal learning management software.
  • Cultivate a dynamic, collaborative, and supportive classroom community.
  • Contribute to local evangelism, admissions, and nurture activities, such as attendance at meetups, speaking at conferences, leading workshops, etc.
  • Set the tone and learning agenda for the classroom.
  • Establish and maintain high academic, attendance, and behavior expectations for students and staff.
  • Build and refine web development curriculum and assignments.
  • Utilize student feedback and experimentation to continuously improve teaching and assessment methods.
  • Evaluate new tools, packages, and tutorials for use in the curriculum.

Qualifications: 

  • 3+ years of experience in industry in a software developer role.
  • Exceptional communication skills; strong interest in education. Multiple years of experience teaching a technical subject preferred.
  • Experience working on and modeling the successes of agile teams and pair programmingFluency in the topics we teach: Learning how to learn (tools, habits, and mindsets), how the web works, Javascript, Node.js, HTML, CSS, Rails, SQL (PostgreSQL), Databases, Test Driven Development, Server-side frameworks with Express, Client-side frameworks with Angular, Responsive Design, APIs, Algorithms, Version Control, Interview Skills. Thrives in a continuous feedback environment and both delivers and welcomes feedback from students and other instructors.
  • Previous background in teaching and/or mentoring aspiring developers. High performing current immersive instructors desirable.
  • Eager to shape the skills, minds, and trajectories of the newest generation of web developers.
