The Role

This role will be focused on web development on our eCommerce platform, website, and serving as the technical lead of the team. The candidate should have experience developing clean, scalable, secure web applications using modern technologies and with leading a team of software engineers. The ideal candidate has full stack experience working with databases, servers and browsers. 

 

Specific Objectives and Responsibilities

 

 

Your First Six Months:

  • Translate business and functional requirements into a maintainable and reusable design
  • Get to know the team and any long term technical challenges that need to be overcome
  • Work closely with other developers, project managers, database administrators and QA
  • Participate in code reviews, write unit tests, and demo your code
  • Apply industry best practices and standards
  • Manage time effectively with minimal supervision to accurately scope projects and ensure that projects release on-time
  • Take on stories and deliver code to production using an agile methodology

Six to Twelve Months and Beyond:

  • Lead, document, implement, and communicate design solutions
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements/efficiencies and drive adoption of high priority value improvements within the team
  • Mentor and coach other web developers on the team
  • Lead and execute demos and knowledge-sharing sessions to the team and a wider audience of developers

Deliver consistent, scalable, quality results in a fast-paced agile environment.  Able to balance short-term wins with long-term sustainability.  The ideal candidate has a positive, collaborative approach to work closely with other developers, QA, and business analysts to meet and exceed our customers’ expectations



 

 

Qualifications

Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering or Computer Science, or equivalent experience
  •     5+ years of experience developing web applications
  •     2+ years of experience as a team lead
  • Experience coaching and mentoring junior members of a web development team
  • Experience with system architecture and design
  • Experience integrating with third-party APIs
  •     Extensive knowledge of server-side web development and common patterns (PHP preferred)
  •     Strong knowledge of Relational Databases (SQL Server preferred)
  •     Exhibited skills writing unit tests
  •     Experience using a source control management system (Git preferred)
  •     Experience with Linux and working on the command line
  •     Experience deriving technical requirements from non-technical sources
  •     Strong hands-on experience with web technologies, web standards & protocols
  •     Experience with use of Agile methods and iterative development practices.
  •     Strong communication skills and the ability to manage multiple projects at one time to meet deadlines
