We are seeking an experienced, enthusiastic, motivated individual with a desire to build efficient, elegant, and dead-simple cloud-based systems. We work with a multi-petabyte imagery archive and big-data algorithms of all flavors, getting them running, getting them integrated with our platform, and getting them in the hands of customers. Where core functionality that we need doesn’t exist, we will build it. If the systems are too unwieldy and ugly to easily use, we will make them elegant and beautiful.

The system is built on top of Amazon Web Services, and we focus on ease of use, simplicity, and execution. We use python as the platform glue, and java services where appropriate for big-data computation.

• Work as part of the platform team, building new features, deploying them, and rolling them out to customers.
• Collaborate with our scientists & engineers on leveraging GBDX Notebooks to build and deploy algorithms on the platform.
• Help develop training data tools for the platform and curate training data by geography and object types.
• Develop prototypes and tools, with focus on simplicity & ease of use.
• Work in a collaborate team environment, co-designing and co-implementing key applications & components.

Basic Qualifications:

• Experience with Python and associated tools & resources
• Experience managing and analyzing geospatial data, both raster and vector
• Experience with Jupyter notebooks and modern data science methodologies and best practices
• Citizen of United States or Permanent Resident

Preferred Qualifications:

• Other languages a plus: Go, Ruby, Java, Javascript
• Knowledge of state-of-the-art startup-style software development methods: Github, StackOverflow, JIRA, Confluence, etc
• Geo experience is a big plus: GIS, image processing, software, & tools. Experience is considered in lieu of academic qualifications
