At Electric Coin Company, we’re deploying next-generation technology at the intersection of privacy and financial systems. We have launched the world’s first privacy-centric cryptocurrency reference wallet and need to build out our iOS product space to make financial privacy accessible to everyone.

As our first iOS Engineer contractor, your initial task will be to build an iOS library and accompanying test applications to help partners adopt Zcash in their mobile wallets. You’ll be working collaboratively with our mobile team and with partners throughout their integration process. Future tasks may involve building other iOS products to increase the adoption of Zcash and building a frontend iOS Zcash reference wallet for open-source usage. We’re looking for a collaborative, humble, self-starter who can come onboard and make an immediate impact.

We have few concrete requirements. We’re flexible, but we’re looking for someone with experience building iOS applications and libraries, Rust, and responding to myriad customer requirements. The ideal candidate will have strong full-stack iOS skills, experience maintaining iOS libraries, and a good grasp of the operability of their products in production environments. 100% remote is welcome. This is a contract position with a potential for contract-to-hire if the person is a good fit and providing excellent value to the team.

Why take this job? Why not join some other startup? Here are a few reasons:

  • Electric Coin Company is on a mission to give everyone on Earth an open, secure, and inclusive financial system through the power of exotic math.
  • We believe in self-care. Our CTO just got back from parental leave, and we move meetings for colleagues’ personal obligations. Your life comes first.
  • Flexible work arrangements–we have colleagues in a variety of time zones and countries but there is an office in Denver if you prefer to work in person.
  • Code review and testing are concrete parts of our development culture.
  • Fun Fridays and hackweeks are frequently scheduled to explore personal or ECC growth opportunities.
  • Almost everything we do is open source.

Some nice to have non-requirements are:

  • Any particular credentials, educational or title-related.
  • Knowledge of cryptocurrencies in particular. We will happily teach you.
  • Maintaining open-source projects or libraries. Helpful to have.
  • Incorporating C, C++, Kotlin multiplatform, or Rust libraries into iOS apps.
  • Coordinating Beta/Test app distributions for preview and feedback.

We have a strong ethos of professional conduct. We’re looking for people who can work in the professional environment we want our company to be. This means you need empathy and emotional intelligence to be a supportive colleague and collaborate well with people of widely different backgrounds, personalities, and skill sets.

At the end of the day, we’re looking for someone who’s as excited as we are about building the future of cryptocurrency. Sound like you? Get in touch at [email protected]
