This is an opportunity to join an exciting, fast-paced, entrepreneurial company, with a positive, collaborative, high-performing team working together to achieve big goals. Our team works hard and is passionate about our company and what we do. We’re also passionate about our fun, in-it-together company culture. What We Are Looking For

The18 is looking for a full stack software engineer to join us in our Boulder office. We’re seeking someone who can help us evolve, grow and support our core platform using best-in-class tools and technologies – as well as help us expand in new areas, such as the creation of a mobile app for our fan base.

Our mission when it comes to technology is to build innovative tools that enable our editorial team to tell compelling stories, to design engaging consumer experiences that can travel across platforms and devices, and to deliver what’s next in digital sports media.

We are looking for an entrepreneurial-minded, curious, positive and hard-working person who will thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

In this role, you will:

  • Work with our team to turn great ideas into great experiences for our users, collaborating with leadership, designers, data scientists and others in the creation of UX-savvy digital products.
  • Create sites, features and applications that are accessible and forward-compatible through the use of web standards.
  • Configure and extend publishing tools for writers, editors, art directors, and video creators, allowing them to tell compelling stories on The18.com via our content management system (Drupal).
  • Identify and address bottlenecks to make sure every web page goes from request to render as quickly as possible.
  • Architect features requiring integration with existing or new back-end services.
  • Design and develop data-driven products and services.
  • Help shape future product decisions by providing clear perspectives, helping us choose the right technologies and deployment strategies.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have 3+ years of experience working with other developers on a live product.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to user-centered design, web standards, performance, usability, and accessibility.
  • Fluency in languages, frameworks and technologies (e.g., HTML, CSS, Javascript, mySQL, CDNs, etc.) that will help us build, maintain and grow a best-in-class platform
  • Show significant experience on the backend, and an ability to recognize design patterns, and write performant database queries.
  • Have a knack for clean, clear code with an eye for maintainability and reuse
  • Have an ability to estimate and prioritize your work well and meet your project commitments.
  • It’s a bonus if you have familiarity with digital publishing tools, including content management systems (e.g., Drupal) and advertising tech.
