FPGA Engineer/ Senior Digital - Contract

Cardinal Peak is seeking a talented, energetic Senior Digital/FPGA Engineer with at least 10 years of FPGA design experience. You will collaborate directly with our partners and developers to drive new hardware products and architectures to enable our customers’ market success. This position is a long term contract position based in Lafayette, CO
Responsibilities:Design and delivers production quality FPGA releases from initial proof of concept up to production release.
Independently performs advanced digital architecture and design
Work directly with the customer to understand and generate hardware requirements and deliverables
Support technical reviews and presents both internally and externally
Work co-operatively with a cross functional team of EEs, firmware developers, software engineers, and program managers to ensure team and product success.
Demonstrate and apply comprehensive knowledge of electronics design to the successful completion of complex projects
Develop estimates for complex task duration, supporting the development of a project schedule and budget
Participate in board bring up and debug for development phases.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Biomedical/Computer Engineering
10+ years digital/FPGA design experience including VHDL/Verilog
Extensive experience with Xilinx and Altera FPGA’s
Ability to use electronic test equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and power supplies
Experience with peripherals buses such as USB, SPI, I2C, I2S, etc
Proven ability to resolve FPGA integration and test issues in a hands-on lab environment
Experience providing reliable FPGA and PCB cost/schedule estimates for development and testing activities
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Bonus points if you have:
DO-254 or other safety related experience
DMA Engines, Gigabit transceivers, PCIe, DDRx controllers, Video processing (scaling, frame rate conversion, color space conversion, etc)
ARM and Intel hardcore, NIOS and MicroBlaze softcore processors
Experience scripting using Perl, Python, or Tcl
Experience with Chipscope or SignalTap, RTL Synthesis, and multi-clock designs
