The Director of Engineering will be responsible for the productivity, health and growth of half of Kapost’s Product Engineers. You will be responsible for making the codebases your team(s) touch and their accompanying user experiences the best they can be. Of equal importance, you will champion your team, through mentorship, growth and continuous process improvements.

This position reports to the CTO.

Responsibilities

• Be accountable for the core engineering metrics of your teams: productivity, quality, app performance and product metrics
• Work closely with the Tech Leads on your teams to establish architecture, derisk projects, and unblock issues
• Be a great manager: regular mentorship (code patterns, pairing, personal development), bring to life their Tour of Duty, push your teams to continually improve and be the best they can be
• Establish the right process to set your teams up for success, while continually monitoring data to inform how to improve that process
• Be the external face of your domain: Liaison with Product Management, Support, other engineering teams and architects to plan the next quarter, educate support on an upcoming feature, coordinate architecture changes across the platform, or help a customer with a technical issue
• Code enough to be deeply familiar with the challenges and opportunities of your code bases
• Recruit and retain the engineers on your teams
• Set the cultural tone for the teams: be positive, solution-oriented, productive
