NetApp is seeking a Director of Continuous Product Engineering (CPE) able to provide senior leadership in directing the Sustaining Engineering team. This role would report directly to the VP of Engineering for the NetApp HCI and the Solidfire AFA product lines. The SolidFire team has delivered, and continues to develop, an Enterprise-Scale Hybrid Cloud Infrastructure (HCI) product based on SolidFire’s proven all-flash storage technology.

 

In this role you will be responsible for visualizing, driving, and executing engineering initiatives. This is a great opportunity to lead in a high-powered team delivering an industry changing product within an extremely high growth sector of the tech industry.

 

 

 

Job Requirements

 

NetApp is seeking a Director of Continuous Product Engineering (CPE) able to provide senior leadership in directing the Sustaining Engineering team. This role would report directly to the VP of Engineering for the NetApp HCI and the Solidfire AFA product lines. The SolidFire team has delivered, and continues to develop, an Enterprise-Scale Hybrid Cloud Infrastructure (HCI) product based on SolidFire’s proven all-flash storage technology.

 

In this role you will be responsible for visualizing, driving, and executing engineering initiatives. This is a great opportunity to lead in a high-powered team delivering an industry changing product within an extremely high growth sector of the tech industry.

 

Key responsibilities for this role include:

  • Establish and evangelize a vision for the CPE organization with a focus on predictability and consistency
  • Ensure that product releases are delivered at market pace with the highest quality
  • Interface with teams across the organization to understand common practices and leverage existing investments
  • Oversee engagement with program partners to deliver on release plans
  • Work collaboratively with development and field teams to ensure timely and high-quality product deliverables
  • Operational governance for said deliverables

Ideal skills and experience includes direct experience with and/or having led teams responsible for:

  • Linux kernel level crash dump analysis
  • Linux driver troubleshooting and analysis
  • Linux transport services (protocol support)
  • Fibre Channel and iSCSI protocols
  • Debugging and resolving complex storage related issues
  • Understanding of the VMWare ecosystem or other Virtualization technology
  • Product development requiring C and or C++ skills along with Shell Scripting and Python
  • Experience in the support chain preferred

 

 

 

Education

 

Qualified candidates must have previous systems level software development experience in the enterprise storage or networking peripherals industry. Additional requirements include:

  • 7+ years of experience with and strong aptitude for leading teams of engineers in a high growth, fast paced engineering environment
  • Demonstrated understanding of the full software development life cycle
  • Experience or working knowledge of Agile/Scrum and SAFe
  • Experience leading teams with heavy focus on troubleshooting in complex environments (e.g. using kernel level debug tools - e.g. kgdb)
  • Direct experience or experience leading teams with strong focus on building and qualifying Linux distros
  • Prior experience with software for enterprise storage, networking, and virtualization products
  • B.S., or M.S. in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience
